So those that camp how do you do it?

We have just moved up. We started with tents, but I didn't like when it got so hot had to lay there almost naked to stay cool. lol So got a pop-up. I really love my pop-up but got out voted by the family, yeah we needed something bigger really, so now have a 1986 RV. Looking forward to our first trip. Gotta finish making a few modifications per my hubby.

My husband and I have a little tunnel tent. It can fit three people but that'd be a bit of a squeeze! It's fine for just the two of us though. Neither of us drives at the moment so it's hard to get to places to use it...I'm learning to drive now though so we'll be able to camp more soon.

I love camping

I use a two-man tent. It's small but ultra light and compact for a backpack. If you ask me, that's the way to do it if you really want an adventure.

I do love tent camping, but it gets so hot in July and Aug in Tx. That is when we do our really big trips.

As a kid, I won a ponderosa 13man tent which worked great. My parents then upgraded to a popup... which was cool I guess, we still had the tent. Camping is a great experience though. Now, I only have a little two man tent thats backable and light. Ropes, gear is too much weight as it is...

I voted tent, although I don't mind sleeping outside if I have to. And for the record, sleeping in an RV is not "camping". I have nothing against RV's as long as they're not totally obnoxious, but having those luxuries just kind of robs you of the total experience of nature. But that's just me.

I voted tent because it just like natural to me. We can bring an awesome gears for what we need and have fun together plus bible.

Mostly tent. I have gone a few times with just a sleeping bag and my backpack too, and several friends with the same.. That was pretty fun.

Don't talk to me about camping. (only kidding)
Just got back today from a weekend camping trip that lasted all of two days. Here in the UK it's a bit breezy at the moment but as you know, when you are sat looking through your window at the sun shining through the trees we all just want to 'get out there'. Well I did, to a camp site here in wales that it advertised as a retreat. It even has its own prayer room.
I was going with my brother for a quiet weekend to test some new camping gear ready for a trip to Scotland next month.
Anyway, the first night was a bit breezy with some rain but as I woke up at 3am I went to the car for something and it was covered by frost. It was a bit cold to say the least.
Next day I think all the sheep in wales came over to see these two strangers who had invaded thier field. I don't think the donkeys were to impressed either because one of them picked up my chair and walked off with it,
I've got the evidence on vidio though.
Friday night was a little more interesting, we dozed off around 11pm but at 1am we were woken up with the tent trying to go into orbit. Once i realised it had torn in various places( havn't told my daughter yet. It's hers)
We decided to call it quits and bundle all the debrie into the car and drive home. So at 5am today I arrived home to my wifes and neighbours amusement. they thought I was lacking something when I told them of my camping adventure in the first place. I surpose at 56 I would have grown up by now, but no. Just wait till next month when I take my canoe, tarp and a hammock to Scotland for a week. Can't wait.

I sometimes do civil war reenactment events I have switched over to what is called "campaign" which means you show up with what you can carry and that is all you have for the weekend. You dress and look like you are living in te past, so it is very primative, but something about the simplicity of it just makes it easier.
I love it Sleeping out under the stars on a cool night is just so peaceful and relaxing.
And no it is not warmongering ,racism or anything like that. It is just something we do for fun.

I drove by a reenactors encampment a few years ago, and I don't think they were having as good a time as you describe. It was pouring down rain!!

When I was on backcountry trail crews in the High Sierras, I only used my tent to store my extra stuff. I always slept outside under the stars. A simple tarp works great most of the time for keeping your sleeping bag dry if it showers.

That was twenty years ago.

My kids are now 8 and 10 and are starting to show an interest in camping...as long as we go with a tent!! We set the tent up in the yard and slept out in it Saturday night.

Our whole family drive to the wilderness in a small Indian town called Illahe in the Pacific NW. It is awesome and so beautiful, back to Nature and very cultural. We love to camp under the stars and cook over an open campfire, We see alot of wildlife, like deer, wild turkeys,bear, and mountain lions.It gets very hot there so we spend most of the time in the Rogue river or in the creek behind a small cabin in the woods.

Tents are nice, I have never gone without anything...
mostly if my family goes camping we are at a camping ground and often there will be cabins so, they are good too... but alittle more costly.
