calling all housewives

I love being a housewife. I don't get bored or lonely either. It's a small home, so it really doesn't take very long to get this place in good shape. I am a nanny 25 hours a week and that leaves two days a week plus the weekend for me to clean, blog, read, learn how to cook and spend time with my husband. I'm looking forward to having a child someday, but for right now, I am very very content. It's awesome to read about women who are as happy as I am! It makes me want to drag one of those " you can have it all" women over here to this thread and say "see! see! You can enjoy being a housewife and not feel oppressed!"

do any of you housewives have a hubby who works from home? i am and at first i thought it was greatest and the most wonderful thing.... i love that he is always here with me but... im starting to wonder... "maybe i should get out a little more and away" because we seriously are with each other 24/7. anyone else home with their hubby all of the time? are there any conflicts from being with each other all the time? i love him so much and love being with him but im starting to believe that if we spend less time together, we won't find ourselves taking each other for granted as much and we will probably not get irritated as much with the littles things... ya know?

Do you nanny at your house, or someone else's? If you're getting paid for it, aren't you actually one of the "you can have it all" types? You work outside the home and you're a housewife... sounds far more "have it all" than someone who merely has a fulltime job...

I am a housewife with a kid on the way. I try and spread things out. I clean usually dust one day, vacuum the other, and I do all the food shopping and cooking is done before he gets home so we can have the evening together without interruptions.

I am a SAHW and my hubby works from home fulltime. I love it!!!

I do have to go out every day and exercise and look after a couple of horses, and do the usual shopping, chores etc...so I don't spend 24/7 in his pocket. He also sometimes goes out for meetings and stuff. But we LOVE doing everything together.

The good thing is that it's nice to spend a lot of time together when you know you're not forced to. Like, either of us is free to go out by ourselves or wth friends, and because we free to spend time doing our own thing, spending a lot of time together doesn't seem like such a pressing issue. I guess if it was a situation where we were 'forced' to do everything together then we'd both feel like we were in a prison. But knowing that we have the freedom to go out if we want to takes away the 'prison' feeling.

And we get on so well anyway that it's a pleasure to do things together. And I'm making the most of it, because if God blesses us with children then I'll become a lot busier and we won't get so much time togther. It's a season in our life that may end at some point, and we're determined to enjoy it while it lasts...

This brot back memories of when I was pg w/ our first...we have 6, so it feels like ions ago. I quit work at about 4mo. I honestly can't remember if I was bored out of my mind or not, but, I remember feeling so ansy the last 2mo of pgy! Please enjoy this quiet and try to remember what it feels like. I seriously CANNOT remember what a day entailed when i was at home w/out kids all day!!!

Being a SAHM is work. My very liberated, career woman mother once told me "You are nothing more than a glorified harlot, so get used being treated as such". She was just being her so I took with a grain of salt and went on. But alot career women think that we do nothing all day, that it isn't real work. And witht hat show "Desperate Housewives" which I find hillarious, it isn't helping our reputation though! I love being a SAHM I also homeschool my kids, so do I consider this work? No I consider it a ministry, they will be the next generation of Christian leaders.

I am a SAHM with 3 little kids under 5, so it is all madness most days! I am very thankful that my husband wants me to stay home to raise our family.

I'm also a full-time student as well but I only take classes on Tues and Thurs. I usually clean and do laundry on Monday or Friday. My husband doesn't expect anything from me as far as chores and taking care of the house, it's just something I do because I'm home. As far as special things I do, though I cook just about every night I try and prepare something special at least one night a week like one of his favorite meals or something and we have a stay in date night.

*edit* I forgot to add what I do with myself haha. I usually go out with my mom once a week to lunch and shopping and other than that I work on homework, just read for leisure, write, spend time with my dogs, and/or hang out with my girl friends.

I am a SAHM, but have been a SAHW in the past for periods of time! I love being at home and wouldnt ever want to go back out into the workforce. My husband wants me at home and I'm sure that one day i will again be a SAHW when the kids are out of the house. Both my mom and mil are SAHW's too! And most of my friends are also. ITs awesome!

I would live to be a SAHW. When i first started to work i'd get really bored when i had time off work - now i hate having to go into work. I get so frustrated that i can't do all the stuff i want to either generally or in the church. When we can afford it i want to drop my hours at work and when we have kids i've give up completely.

If it wasn't an un-Christian thing i'd really envy all you SAHW's and SAHM's

This is much like my situation too! I am also a full-time uni student, at the moment i only have 2 days at uni each week.

I do all the cooking, most of the cleaning (apart from dishes & rubbish), the finance/bills etc... i use my other time to study, am fairly involved in our church, i also try to go out with friends. Some of my family lives close so i see them often too.

I think it can get a bit isolating at times (if i dont make an effort to catch up with friends etc...). I am thinking of getting a part time job aswell to get out a bit more, and the money will be handy too! I am very blessed to have my husband totally support us while i am studying, and it will be nice to have two incomes after i finish my studies!

Sorry Leanna and IntheFlame, I wrote that post in August and for the life of me I can't remember what I was thinking at the time! I think I was just referring to the mother's who drop their children off at daycare so they can feel fulfilled with a full time job or whatever. But, of course, that doesn't apply to the moms who honestly have no other choice. Anyway....sorry about the weird post!
As for being a housewife. I am taking a night course and I'm a nanny three days a week (outside the house), so I guess I am not here very much. Weekends is the time I really scrub everything and dust and all that.

Oh please, don't give up. I know it's hard, but you are leaving behind a legacy for those kids. Do you want someone else raising them? In daycare they will develop the virtues, mindset, and behavior of all these outside influences you don't always know. There are plenty of people with their own views on life ready to put them in your kids head, don't be so quick to hand your children over to these people, you might regret it. My children were in public school for a couple years, their foundation of Christ was quickly torn down, because they assumed that if the teacher says it it must be true. So things like the bible being historically, and God breathed truth, was undermined by liberal teachers who told them differently. I know your "work" right now is not always fun, not always gratifying, and certainly doesn't pay, and it isn't glamorous, I know, BUT it is virtuous, it is holy, it is God's will that you raise the children He gave you. Try getting involved in play groups, or get the kids involved in activities where you can be with other moms and talk, I find this is a great way to introduce people to the Lord, you get to meet all kinds of moms with all kinds of views, and it gives an opportunity to share CHrist. I hope I've helped sway you.
