I have the same calling. I wouold pray. since you're not of a catholic pursuasion, I can't tell you to go to daily Eucharist(when you can), but....

Read the bible. Pray as often as you can, and read all you can about the Early Chruch fathers.(Not anyone like Sir Thyomas Moore, or Thomas Aquinas, I mean the Apostles. Pray, as well. I mean Pray, you need to do that. I will pray for you.
---Peace be with you.

Good advice, Benedictine. :)

Chava, my first reaction is that God will reveal His particular calling to you in time. As you continue to study and develop yourself in your own spiritual life, and as Benedictine said, pray, I think you will start to feel an inner "nudge" from the Holy Spirit which will refine your direction even more than it is now. As it is, though, a sense that you are called to ministry and a desire to work with kids is an excellent start. Trust that as God has led you in the past, so He will lead you in the future.

There are a few things that you can do which will help you develop in your calling. Strangely enough, these are for the most part things any Christian can do to deepen their discipleship. They include prayer, Bible study, and worship. Also find yourself Christian mentors, people more experienced on the spiritual path who can help you in your own journey. Maintain or form close relationships with Christian peers for fellowship, support and accountability.

And in your case, I especially recommend looking for ways to put your gifts and skills into action. That may be teaching children at your church, it may be organizing a prayer group of your peers. You could talk to your pastor and explain that you are interested in stretching and growing as a ministering Christian, and s/he can help alert you to possible ways to serve. I recommend this to you because I think that the more ministry you do, the more you understand your own gifts and passions. That has been the case with me, at any rate. I did internships and taught Bible studies and did a bunch of different things, all of which helped me understand my calling to be a pastor. Discover your own gifts, and learn which skills are things you can learn well. As one of my seminary professors always said, "once you know who God created you to BE, you will know what He created you to DO."

All the best -- keep us posted, ok?

I definitly agree with prayer and seeking God and spending time with him. I knew I was called to full-time ministry when I was in middle school it was something I just knew I didn't know exactly what area of ministry but as I grew and evetually went to bible college it became evident in my life. Continue to seek God and like Macirina said seek out mentors people who have been in ministry for years who will give you insights and help you develop what God has placed within you...

Well, first off, I would ask the question of whether it is God calling you into ministry, or if it's merely something you want to do because it looks easy or fun or whatever, or for some prestige within the church... In other words, who is calling you into ministry: God or yourself. If it is God, HE will make it pretty obvious in various ways through external affirmation as well as an internal witness that this is what you must do, and that this is a serious burden that is on your heart.

As for where to be called in a geographical sense, I would say that for now, you are called to be in the place where you are at. When it comes time to move on, you will know the next place where you need to be. If there is one thing that I have learned from moving around a lot and not really having any place that I can truly call home, it's that for as long as you are in a place, God has put you there for a reason... to be a light and to shine for HIM there. And then, after a time, HE will call you to go to the next place... but sitting around wishing you were elsewhere just wastes a whole bunch of time. I should know, as I am an expert at wasting time playing the "what-if" game.

Are you called to ministry? Then great. Do the ministry that God has given you right now as a preparation for what may come later. An ancient Chinese proverb states that the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. So let us walk in the life that God has given us...
