  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Awesome photos SFS! I'm still doing the editing, but I shot a few on a recent 1200 mile loop to visit my sister and brother in law near the US-Canadian border in north central Washington. I brought back some I really like and will hope to share soon, but WOW! Those really jumped off the screen at me! Good eye! What do you shoot with?

I also loved the Bodie hotel...I got a few like that up north too. One building, which appeared to be a small one room schoolhouse that was slowly collapsing and twisting as it did so, gave me an idea...get a pair of black and white striped tights (I think that's what she word) and put ruby slippers on the feet and slide the legs under the structure and snap away! It looked like it had hit the ground spinning...so I thought of Wizard of Oz.

Thanks. I use a Nikon D90 and (for this trip) three good but not stellar zoom lenses. Also a tripod some of the time. There's always a bit of tension between taking the time to set up shots and enjoying the place with my family. Mostly they put up with me very well.

I also have a very different set of photos from this trip that I'll put up shortly.
