  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

-The war in Iraq is a mess
-No weapons of mass destruction were found
-Bin Laden is still on the run
-Prices of oil are sky-high
-It's being questioned whether Bush dodged the draft
-Some of Bush's own people are claiming he planned to go to Iraq before 9/11
-Many books are being written, such as "Worse than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush"
-Fahrenheit 9/11 presents Bush as a terrorists to millions of viewers
-Many people have claimed that Bush could have prevented 9/11 from happening
-There has been a net loss of jobs since Bush took office
-VP Cheney is being questioned about Halliburton

...and yet Bush still leads in the polls.

I think it shows that 1) the majority of people in this country are smart enough not to believe all the lies and distortions presented to them in Farenheit 9/11, 2) John Kerry is an exceptionally weak candidate, or 3) conservatism is now the prefered form of government policy.

you would figure that would be enough to ruin him. 2 bucks a gallon on gas is crazy.
I find it funny that some people say "Bush went to war for oil!" Then when you ask them why oil prices are so high, they tell you he's charging high prices and getting rich of off it.

Yeah most of that stuff is lies anyway.. that's another reason he's ahead in the polls.
Just what I was going to say! Further, the pres. doesn't have a lot of control over oil prices. Unless of course, the dems would agree to Anwar drilling or the development of alternative sources of energy.:)

Yes, gas is high in Americans eyes. But look at the rest of the world $4-7+ in our currency. So really, $2 is cheap compared to them. What people fail to realize is that the President has little control over oil prices.

Again, I have said this before and I will say it again. The liberal media is so far out of line it is unreal what they say and what people will believe.

I think it speaks of Bush's character as a leader.

He got in by beating a guy that rode on the economic boom of the 90s. How can you be part of an admistration during a huge economic boom and then lose?

Liberals can only distort the truth and get in by saying, "I'm not him". Sorry Kerry, haven't heard your plan on reducing oil prices, getting jobs or fixing Iraq. If you think a few tax laws on outsourcing will put millions of Americans to work, you're nuts.

But hey, since he didn't offend any Muslim nations by attacking Al-Qaeda or even prosecuting Bin Laden when we had the chance, he now gets to be UN Secretary General possibly.

Isn't that great? I'm sure Satan has a nice spot picked out for him in Hell.

Sorry to get sidetracked there, I'm not a big fan of Clinton...

I disagree- it was the fact that Clinton wasn't 'war hungry' that three thousand people died on 9-11. Al-Qaeda continually attacked the US and US troops, all Clinton offered was false promises that he'd go after the ones responsible.

Clinton lied, civilians died.
I agree. Clinton, Carter, and Hitler all showed us that pacifism doesn't work.

Bush is war Hungry
Did you forget that 3,000 people died on Sep. 11? Do you realize that there were terrorist cells in the US? Do you understand that these people hate us and want to strike again?

Bush is no war hungry. He is smart. He realizes that we have to be right every time, they have to be right only once.

We are at war. We did not declare this war. They did.

Have not read it but words like false, lies, propaganda, etc... come to mind. Anyone can write a book with hate speach and propaganda because they don't like a person. That is the easy part, but without full knowledge of the facts, the intelligence, and being the first person to hear and ultimately make the decisions no book, no person can be trusted and should be taken as a grain of salt. Sadly though there are people out there who buy into this stuff. Where is the credibility in this stuff?

Anyone read the book "Shadow War" by Richard Miniter. I have not read it myself. But it is about how Bush is winning the war on terror, the secrets as to where Bin Laden may be, weapons found, training of under water divers and why, etc... Next time I am at B&N I will have to get it.

Crystal, although I admire your compassion to want to run for president I feel that you have a lot of knowledge to learn about reality. Kerry is a threat to our way of life. He wants to legalize abortions, and gay marriages while he will cut down on the security of our nation. I am sorry but anyone who votes for him or has these ideas of abortion and gay marriage is right you don't understand the Catholic faith.

Yes, war is bad. But they attacked us. Clinton failed to act and had Bin Laden but let him go. People hate war, that is fine. But look at the wide picture and see that they want to destroy America and more importantly Christianity as a whole. You can't tell me that we are supposed to just sit back and watch it get turned to dust. Reality is now and the next president God help us that Bush is re-elected will determine many things for us including the future fate of our country on this war on terror.

I was listening to Glennbeck this morning and he had someone on for whom I cannot remember. But he said WWIII started back in 1979 and has progressively gotten worse. Thank God for President Bush for actually having the sense that this has got to stop otherwise with a Clinton pre 9/11 that Kerry wants it will only continue and get to a point where we can't defend ourselves.

Bush among with half of America sees that Security of our nation is #1. And on the other half with Kerry they see the security of our nation as a back seat nuisance and liken it to fighting prostitutes. Kerry wants more UN involvment. Hate to say it, but the UN is worthless and we should drop them. Does the program "Oil For Food" bring up issues with anyone else. It is a fraud and some country has been abusing it. And all the UN resolutions for 10 years did absolutely nothing to stop Saddam which in turn is probably the reason why the supposed WMD's are not there. Why? Because they are probably in the hands of the terrorists. Will the liberal media report that? Heck no...

Look, the point is. No matter how much you hate war there is no way around it. It is either go to war to defend ourselves or sit back and watch our country go down the drains. The LIBERALS don't understand this.

You forgot to mention that Kerry said he wants to get back to the time when terrorists were a nuisance like prostetution. Do you really think you can trust a man to protect our country when he views terrorism as a nuisance?
