Yes, any normal human being should... however, the typical person in politics wouldn't... that is why I respect Bush. He's a human being, not a sack of crud using everything as a political string. He's a real person.

kudos to you Mr. President.

Skepticism is fine... that he is a human being capable of showing concern and compassion is commendable (wow, cool alliteration... pats self on the back). I think that what Milla may be responding too is that the title suggests that Bush is a great leader. I don't want to derail this thread because I think that this is a very nice story... but, if you are of my perspective, and you believe that Bush is not a great leader, it is diificult to forget all of the stuff that he has done wrong... just because he gave someone a hug. I think that it is great that he was moved by this girl... that she was clearly moved by her encounter with him... but as the thread is titled as it is, some of us will feel the need to comment on the quality of his leadership... which in our opinion is lacking.

Peace.

Maybe he will hug all the little brown-skinned children in Iraq who's lives and families he personally destroyed next?

Yes, the other day, I saw him over there personally killing this baby with his bare hands... and by golly, it was an innocent baby I tell ya!

Actually two years ago, there's a good chance that mother/baby would have died from the insufficient health care that Saddam was "providing" to his people...

P.S.-I love the race card being played here too, like it would have taken EXTRA effort to reach out and hug a "brown-skinned" baby as oppossed to a "white-skinned" one....nice implication

If someone pulls the trigger on a gun and kills a man, is he not guilty?

Bush is our commander and chief and he says when we go to war. It is under his direct orders that these people have been killed.

I wouldn't have added it if I didnt truely believe that Bush believed he's on some kind of "crusade" against Islam and I didn't truely believe that America would object much more strongly to this war if we were killing white people.

I believe America is just about as racist as its ever been, only we know how to cover it up better than before...

I hope that this article told the truth. It would be very good for both GWB and this girl, as people; if it as was as the article portrays. Not being the best president, disqualifies no-one from genuine human warmth. I do think that this is where GWB is at his best; both as human being, and as President. When he took the news of 9/11, on that school stage, my heart went to him, in how he recived it, just as a decent human being. I think that, in the right circumstances, it would not be difficult to like this guy.

Ahhh...skeptical on multipal threads....how's life in Russia by the way?
Life in Russia is great. Out of curiousity, is it allowed to post the exact same thread in more than one forum?

A great leader should unite people not seek to just solidify an edge so I will have to disagree with you about his leadership ability.

No. A great leader should do the right thing despite the popular belief at the time.
