  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

so anyone feeling the pressure yet? i have two papers to write this weekend, and two exams to study for. i also have a habitat meeting and a committee to organize. so, i guess you can say i'm a tad stressed out. ;) i therefore am making this the burnout prevention and support thread. feel free to list here any relaxation suggestions you have for others that have worked for you. study and paper writing tips are welcome as well. also, feel free to use this place to vent and get out all those frustrations :)

ok, suggestion #1

for some reason, having a slinky close at hand helps me to write a paper. doing something mindless (like playing with a slinky, for instance), seems to get those wheels turning. plus, slinkys are just fun :D

I know what you mean, girlscout! My life is jumping from one thing to the next. I have totally forgotten what "free time" is all about!!! :)

I like the slinky idea! I have absolutely zero attention span...I'm all about taking mindless breaks!

/me heads off in search of her old slinky before she gets cracking on homework...

I was planning to go and do some homework at the library early in the morning. Come to find out I'm scheduled for a dentist appointment at 8:00am. Heres the icing on the cake, my birthday is tomorrow. My birthday wish now is to be cavity free. I bet thats a one-of-a-kind birthday wish. Now you can see if I try to get ahead of my work it always fails because something else gets in my way. So, I'm sticking with procrastination.

Tip #2: To prevent burnout vacate a day of the week to do no homework related activites (Sundays for me).

I have learned how to not get stressed out about that stuff... do it in advance! I have a syllabi for every class.. and therefore I do the assignment weeks before it is due and never have to stress out.
Thats what they call proactive. I wish I was I've tried it before, but I always end up and give in to procrastination. I commend anyone who is proactive.

Good tip Shannon!
