  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I saw a video that talks about "adding rungs to your ladder" in order to get yourself out of a dark place in life or to destroy a pattern of stagnancy. A rung in your ladder is a goal, big or small, short term or long, that you can focus on meeting instead of focusing on where you're at.

What are some rungs in your ladder? I thought this might be a nice space to share some goals and keep eachother updated/accountable.

Some of mine:
Run a marathon
Get a Tattoo
Go to San Diego Comic Con
Reach 50 subscribers on Youtube
Learn to dance
Host a Bible Study
Make a Multi Course Meal for Myself
Host a BBQ
Make an Erza Scarlet cosplay
Perform in something (local play, haunted house, choir)

Great idea for a thread.
Some of mine, God willing:

- Lose my belly chub :rage: ... ihu belly chub.
- Get closer to my church and more involved (or the same at a new church, depends if I move or not)
- Start running again
- Find a gf
- Someday learn to play piano
- Do more good works
- Spread the gospel more
- Find a way to spread the gospel on a larger scale than individual basis
- Find my career calling
- Be more loving
- Eat better

get a tattoo?

what is the achievement there?
They don't necessarily have to be achievements- but things you hope for and can look forward to/work on. Though for me it'd be an achievement because I've wanted one for years and been too chicken to do it.

You should stay a chicken.
Getting a tattoo seems like it belongs on a list with

1. Get Drunk
2. Start smoking
3. Gamble myself into debt.

Just my opinion. To each their own.

I was a YouTuber at one point. I made christian videos and I had a few videos up, and in one of them I actually used green-screen to have an all white background.
I eventually deleted the channel for personal reasons, but I think I'll still plan on making it big on YouTube.

Goals:
make a new youtube channel with a theme.
manage time better
learn spanish, and mandarin
get a motorcycle license
learn to spot a troll better on christianforums to stop myself before i waste too much time on them
save money by not buying snacks and energy drinks that I could do without
become a police officer
learn computer programming

Nice list... except for the part where I am supposed to get drunk ;). I could never hand my faculties over to a substance.

I'm leaving CF, so now I have more time to work on my goals. So, I guess consequentially I am going to stop wasting time (not saying anyone else is, im speaking for me). That's one rung.

Sorry to hear you're leaving, but I hope that it will be better for you overall so that you can manage your time better and use it better for the Lord.

God bless.

Update on one of my ladder goals!! I've decided to actively work on my Youtube channel and create a regular posting schedule. Since I've been doing this I've gained 5 subscribers (not a lot.. but compared to what I had before a HUGE increase). Most importantly I've been having a LOT of fun coming up with video ideas and bringing them to life. It's a good rung indeed!

I'm gonna post immediate goals rather than like some time in the future goals-- tho vs I'm actively trying to achieve right now:

-Buy my first car. The move set back my savings, not complaining, a place to live comes first obviously, but I'm still working on it. I'm hoping that I can get a strong downpayment ready in about six months. The car I want: a Dodge Challenger GT.

-Get to know my current sorta crush and see if she is crushworthy, and if she is, win her heart.

-get my licenses, so I can make more money at work. The studying is way harder than I thought it would be, I've been at this job eight months, and I still haven't even made a dent in what I need to learn.

-read my bible every day, not just for bible study.

-larger emphasis on prayer in my life.

So that's kinda the work stuff. Now for fun stuff.

-go to a comic con. Saving for a car, I might not have the money for the next San Diego one, maybe the one after that-- but I can go a local one - why not?

-concert/ music festival. I've only been to two concerts before. I wanna go to more, need to make time in my life for that.

- maybe some traveling, lots of things I wanna see.

Those are good goals :) I hope you can make it to comic con next year- I'm planning on going then also because my parents will be living in the area and I won't need a hotel. If it works out we'll have to grab lunch or something!!
