Matthew 7:26-27 (NIV)
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. [27] The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
Jesus said that you can either build on the sand or the rock. He says that if you hear Gods word and put them into practice. There is a closeness to God that we must achieve, a deadness to self, a crucified life that we must get to in order to hear God and put what He says into practice. You can surrender all to God and build on the rock, which means that you must go to the cross and die. Or you can build on the sand and expect full punishment for your sins. But dont think there is a middle ground and dont think that lukewarm, modern day Christianity will save you.
