Need some advise. i work for a Health Care Network who claims to be overtly Christian. Some time back i entered our Gift Shop and Lo-and-behold i see a 3 foot statue of Buddha sitting on our floor with a 140.00 price tag on it. For obvious reasons i have a problem with this.

I have contacted the President of our Network, and have arranged to meet with Him after the first of the year (to discuss this topic as well as other similar topics)....i have been corresponding with Him via email, he seems genuinely concerned. But am i being unrealistic that "little ole me" can persuade this Org. from changing their position? i am also asking for material regarding buddhism. i am not extremely versed on the "religion."

Regards,

B Howard

Did you ask what it's doing there? Does it mean that someone things Buddha is Christian, or might it be there because some of your patients aren't Christian and the gift shop wants to provide for their religious needs? The former is absurd, the latter might make sense. Someone might also have considered the statue to be of a Christian saint. (Do you know that it isn't, or it labelled Buddha?)

Buddhism is just as complex of a religion as is Christianity. You have 3 main different forms and they all argue with each other. Sound familiar? But Buddhism is basically based on man overcoming his own desires by right thinking and right attitude. I studied it in college.
