Brother Lazarus

The rich man fared sumptously
Lazarus needed help desperately
Starving just outside the gate
Lazarus will have to wait


Fatter we get day by day
While Lazarus is wasting away
We have a vision of the world for Jesus
But we are unable to see Lazarus


We seek for the secret of success
Yet we fail to minister to Lazarus
Lazarus fights but death finally wins
Which man found forgiveness of sins





Brother Lazarus, please forgive me
For not caring enough to see
For ignoring your pain
For leaving you in the rain


Brother Lazarus, please sit at the table
I will do for you whatever I am able
Let us sit and talk awhile
Share your heart and your smile


Brother Lazarus, show me your secret
Of when the Saviour you met
When you left your treasures behind
And perfect peace you did find





Between the promise and the victory
Is a life poured out in ministry
GOD is glorified in those who minister to the least
In the presence of GOD this one will feast

Very good. It made me think of the rescue mission my church has downtown. We're doing our best to minister to Lazarus, and hopefully soon, we'll be able to minister to the women and children of our city as well. The poor are with us always, and we must remember to feed their bodies, yet also feed their souls with the Word of God.

Thank-you for posting...it was a good reminder of what we all need to be doing...looking beyond ourselves...and looking at the World around us where people are dying without knowing His perfect love...
