Acts of hate: full list of 'deportation' acts
By Times Online
The Home Office today published a list of "unacceptable behaviours" which will lead to the deportation or exclusion of any foreign national who commits them from the UK.

NI_MPU('middle');According to the Home Secretary the list is indicative rather than exhaustive and covers any non-UK citizen whether in the UK or abroad.

Terrorist violence

Cannot foment, justify, glorify terrorist violence in furtherance of particular beliefs

Terrorist acts

Cannot seek to provoke others to terrorist acts

Criminal acts

Cannot foment other serious criminal activity or seek to provoke others to serious criminal acts

Inter-community violence

Cannot foster hatred which might lead to inter-community violence in the UK.

Method

Individuals who do the above by any means or medium are caught by the legislation, including:

- writing, producing, publishing or distributing material;

- public speaking including preaching

- running a website

- using a position of responsibility such as teacher, community or youth leader

It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out. On the surface it looks like a good idea. However legilation of this sort, could be used to quiet any dissent of govt. policy. Thats the danger. I still maintain that our reaction to the 911 attack was much more damaging than the attack it'sself.

This all seems rather (usefully) vague: an inexhaustive list of actions that can apply to soo many people. How can this be enforced? How can this be enforced in a just and fair manner?

It only has to be enforced in a protective manner: protective of the UK. These are dangerous times.

Sensible in theory, imho, but it seems rather difficult to define in such a way that would not limit correct use of freedom of speech. Incitement to hatred is already a crime, of course, and this could be just an extension of that if defined and implemented properly. Having said that, I do not trust the government, and the Home Office in particular, to do either of those things.

Well, as has been said in other topics, we already knew this was coming, right? So it shouldn't be a big surprise to us. It is interesting that non-Christians often tell us that we are paranoid when we speak of attacks on Christianity around the world. The time is coming when we will be practicing our faith behind closed doors, and punished for doing it in public. If we protest, we'll be called terrorists, and it will only get worse beyond that. More than being prepared outwardly, we need to ready ourselves spiritually for these things to come, and place our whole faith in the Lord.

Rom 8:31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Amen? :)
