  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I remember seeing a thread on breech babies a while back, but can't find it... so here's the question...

Have any of you have breech presentation early (like I'm 35w 4d, so it's not a big worry or anything yet) and then the baby flipped on his own?

Has anyone tried any positions to hold to get him to flip?

Anyone had an external version?

End up with a c-section due to breech presentation?

Any info you can provide would be great!

Thanks,
Carina

I have had a breech baby that I delivered normally. It wasn't a problem for me.
Naomi, I would love to try to deliver vaginally, but my midwife will not deliver a 1st time baby whose breech vaginally :(

I'm so glad that you were able to and that it was a good experience! Stories like yours really encourage me!

I've got to do my best to work on these positions to get him to turn over the next 2 weeks... then if he's not turned they want to do a version...

after that we'll see what happens.. I'm trying to find another provider now who will deliver vaginally if necessary.

I know I'm not going to "schedule" a c-section.... because I know many babies have turned when the water broke, so I'm insistant on going into labor naturally.

Thanks SabrinaFair...

Off to do more searching in those links...

Linnis - I'm sooo happy about your outcome too! Unfortunatly I don't have the ability to do the bedrest thing, as I'm still working full time.

My older sister was breech and delivered by c-section. By about 36 weeks I was also lying breech and the dr scheduled a c-section again. Then a week or so later my sister hurt her hand pretty seriously (banged the door shut on a finger) and in the process of taking her to the hospital my mom ran a bit and apparently the shaking turned me over. I was born 2 weeks early at 38 weeks, vaginally, head first.

At 30 weeks my baby was lying breech and my mom kept joking that I should go jogging, but she's turned on her own, thank God.

So, here is where I'm at... I found a wonderful midwife in my area who is great at working with all kinds of situations.

She has referred me to a chairopractor in the area who is wonderful with doing the Webster Method. Which as far as I understand is an adjustment to loosen the ligaments that attcach my uturs to the different parts of my body.

After several treatments, and him giving me some advice on how to move in different situations so that I don't add stress to the muscles. Usually this works to get baby to turn about 75%+ of the time with experienced dr.'s and it's non-invasive. Beyond that, there are no bad side effects if done wrong.

If this doesn't work, there is another technique that this midwife told me about. I can't remember it's technical name. But she recommended an OB/GYN who is also a cranial-sacral therapist. He would adjust me from inside the birth canal. This is also non-invasive and has no ill side effects on me or baby.

Midwife Eileen is confident that we can get baby to turn, and not worried in the least about my situation with the resources we have at hand. :yay:

I have my 1st appointment with Dr. David (the chairopractor) on Monday at 4:30! :)

I feel so much better being armed with the knowdledge, and having things to work on to get things done! What a blessing. I'm feeling sooo much better!

Okay, so it was just a consultation yesterday... I hate to sound so ungrateful, but I felt it was a waste of time. Like they were giving me a sales pitch.

I wanted to say: Uh.. duh... if I'm here, it's because I already want to see you, just tell me what you need from me and schedule me an appointment already!!!

Instead I was the polite little lady I should be... but my next appointment is today to get the adjustment, so I'll do another update tonight or tomorrow.

I went in today and the baby is breech. They tried to do the version but the baby's butt was stuck pretty good in the pelvis and wouldn't budge. It set off bleeding and we went to the ER after calling the doctor. He watched me for about 1 1/2 and since my contractions were light he sent me home and the bleeding stopped. He says that I can't do a vaginal birth now that it most likely will be c section unless the baby decides to turn around on its own, by us checking weekly. Otherwise baby will be born on the 20th , unless I start labor.. then we go from there and send me in for csection.

I have been told there is nothing I did but I still feel disappointed. I am sure I will get over that feeling and want to be that the baby is just healthy. :)

I highly suggest finding a chairopractor who is certified in Webster technique. It's non invasive. He/she pushes on your round legiment in a particular way as to loosen it up to give baby more room to flip. It's not NEARLY as dangerous as an ECV. It's so safe that you don't have to be in a hospital, it's never caused contractions or bleeding or anything.

So I had my first "adjustment" yesterday.

Basically I laid on a table and Dr. David pressed on my round legiment, made sure it was tight... then pressed and massaged it to loosen it. It was uncomfortable as he was doing it, but the min he released the tension I could feel the difference.

He said it could take about a week to 10 days for baby to flip, and it will most likely happen when I'm sleeping (which is people's most relaxed state). There are no bad side effects of this procedure, so I'm so thankful for it.

I'm waiting until I've gotten my 10 days in of this procedure before I think about an ECV. I've heard of too many women going into labor or bleeding or the pain etc.. so I want to do that as my last option.

GodsGirl - how many weeks are you?

Hugs,
Carina

So I had my 3rd adjustment today, and man I feel great, and baby boy is definatly moving in there, but still breech. Which is to be expected.. it's rare for baby to flip this early into the procedure... so I'm very hopeful. I'm feeling kicks in places he hasn't moved before, so he's definatly moving even if it's not very fast! :)

My doctor did do the Webster and he is certified in it. We have been doing it for weeks, twice a week. And it hasn't helped at all . I actually had my appt before my doctor appt that day. They will keep trying it each time I go in for my appt. Maybe it will finally unwedge itself. ;) So we will just keep praying about it . :D

If anything the pregancy massage and the Webster technique feels good. I am 37 weeks.

Geez, sounds like we're pretty much in the same boat. I've had 4 treatments in the webster's technique (Tues, Wed, Fri and Sat of this week). I'm already schedualed for Mon and Tues and we'll see from then on.

I'm also 37 weeks (as of today!)

I haven't attemped an ECV, I'm waiting until next week I think. I want to try to keep giving webster technique it's time, I've been told 7-10 days is average. I figure that having as many treatments as possible will hopefully give our lil boy a better chance of ECV working, if it doesn't flip him itself.

I'll keep you in my prayers!

My husband keeps reminding me that God is in control and I have a wonderful friend that reminded me that God loves our son even more than we do! What an amazing truth to have for comfort when struggleing so much. God's perfect love!

Hugs,
Carina
