We got this email from my youngest son's school secretary yesterday:
I'm so grateful to God for the good kids I have. They are awesome.

Color me very proud of our 11yo, who took it all in stride, and last night that was what I took away from it: he didn't think he had done anything particularly amazing - he took it for granted that he would find that kid and give him the money. The idea of keeping it for himself had never even crossed his mind!Dear Mr. and Mrs. W:
I wanted to share something with you that another parent brought to my attention today. The parent wanted to speak directly with [the school principal] but she was on a conference call and was unavailable.
The parent's son brought $21.00 in cash to school in an envelope to purchase two cookbooks. The child's name was on the envelope but it fell out of his backpack onto the ground. C found it and found out who the student was and then delivered it it in person to the student. He certainly could have kept the money but he made a very mature, Godly decision and returned it to it's rightful owner. This was not a student in C's class or even in his grade. He had to make a concentrated effort to track the student down and return the money. The boy's parent was extremely impressed and wanted to commend not only your son, but also wanted me to let you know about his integrity and honesty.
I have passed this information on to [the principal] and also C's teacher. What a wonderful example C is!
I'm so grateful to God for the good kids I have. They are awesome.
