  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has the Lord ever done anything extra special and personal for you? I'd like to hear about it.

Well...I'll share. Of course...I'm a single gal right? On Valentines Day everyone secretly longs to receive a valentine from SOMEONE, be it a "lover" or friend. It's just nice to be remembered.

My drama group was set to do a skit at a local church that day. I walked in the door and there was a basket waiting for me with a bow of red and white ribbons. Within was a pot of miniture red roses, a rose shachet, a small heart shaped box of chocalates and a card. Best of all was the card. As you might have guessed, there was a rose on the front with the saying, "to My precious Amy" (That's my name. I don't mind telling ya.) Inside was this saying. "You have ravished My heart My sister My Bride." You know, from the Song of Solomon and it was signed, "From Jesus, your Prince!" To this day I don't know who the obedient vessel was that gave me this very personal gift from the Lord. The Message came across loud and clear: ;) Jesus Loves Me! He cares for me! Needless to say my heart did a couple flips and I kept shouting "I don't believe it! I don't believe it!" I love it when He does special things that only you and He know would bless you right out of this world and into the next. Yee Haa!

Anyone else? Don't be shy.

That was such a touching story Amy. As a widow of 8 years after a 30 year marriage[married at 16], I know what you mean about Valentines Day. That is the hardest holiday of all for singles,I believe, because it is just for sweethearts.,But I can honestly say that Our Sweet Lord has filled me with such joy that,I hardly give it a thought anymore.I used to have a hard time eating in a resturaunt alone,as a single, until I started counting my benefits of being single and now it doesn't bother me in the least, since this is one very happy single,LOL! So if I feel like going out,I do,and I enjoy it too. Of course I enjoy good company of my lady friends at times as well, but I am just fine when it is just me and the Lord. I thank Him so much for being all we need,if we just allow Him to be.   :)

Mannysee,

Your right...Jesus' love poured into us is the most beautiful, pure love we could ever experience. I'm glad you felt His love for you.

Tumbleweed,

I agree! Jesus' love for us can certainly be seen in the faces of friends and strangers. That is one of the real ways He communicates His kindness to us.

Soblessed53,

Again I am blessed by your comments. I feel as you do about eatting alone in resturants or going to the movies etc. Of cousre I am super blessed when a friend joins me but my friends aren't always available. some of them are single moms and have to be with their kiddos. So on occasions when I go out by myself I really believe Jesus is with me and I imagine Him sitting right across the table, offering me His smile and I smile back at Him.

One of the saddest things for me is when you go to a resturant(mostly in diners) and you see couples eatting together but they hardly look at each other or say a word to one another. Too sad! So who is really alone in that diner scene? The couple who doesn't communicate or me with my invisibe Husband, Jesus?

Everyone,

I believe Jesus is giving us signs and gifts of His love all the time. May He open our hearts and eyes to perceive them!

I have to say Kisstheson that you and your threads have been a blessing to me as well. As we know, singles who are satisfied and fulfilled in their single state are few and far between. I pray that we will be able to encourage others to believe that it really, truly is possible. I am truly soblessed in so many ways,it was so simple to immediately choose my nickname. I am blessed with a best friend of 37 years, who has had a very hard life and failed marriages. She is now 55,single mom of a 9 yr. old Down's Syndrome son. Yet she is one of the happiest, most joy-filled people I know, because she is in love with the Lord. Thankfully she went running [back] to him after the failed relationship with the alcholic, abusive father of her child, and WOW it is awesome to watch God work in her life. It is SO TRUE,with Obedience, comes blessings. She was sinning with this man, they were never married, but because she has surrendered her life to God,she and God give me testimony after testimony,LOL! Whew Praise The Lord,Thank You Jesus!:prayer: :prayer: :prayer: :) :) :)

I have to add 2 more things for the Lord
1) there is no sweeter voice than His!
2) there is nothing in this life to compare to His touch!

I am always glad to come here and find your responses! They bring a big smile to my face. :D

Yes you are "soblessed" to have had the same friend for 37 years. Truly a person is really "lucky" if he or she can find one good, faithful friend in this life time. A true friend is hard to come by. Your friend has a great testimony and so much gratitude even though she has some hardship with her son's "disability". I am always impressed with people that have endured long term suffering and have not become bitter but better. I pray that Jesus helps me to be grateful no matter what I have to go through. I know I can't do a thing without Him and all is through His grace.

I am also sure YOU are a blessing in many ways to her!

Hey! Two things about the Lord!
1)His voice
2)His touch

I yi yi yi yi yi yi yi yi yi! He wins! Hands down !

That gives me an idea for another thread!

Awww thank you so much. Yes,we both are so thankful for our long friendship, and we both feel blessed by the other. We are each other's accountability partners as well as encouragers. Except for this son,her 3 grown daughters grew up with my kids all close in age and believe me we both know God gave her what she needs to raise this boy, because she has patience she never had with them. I mean she just would not take for one minute the things that she has to accept from him. She knows God makes her able to. She also has no freedom at all because it is so very difficult to take him out anywhere. He goes to school and that is her only break as she will let no one watch him,but me and one daughter, since he cannot talk well to tell her if anyone should be mean to him. She is on a fixed income, but it would just blow you away, the needs that she has had at times, and God ALWAYS meets them! It is such a blessing to her of course, but to me and those I tell as well. Course He has done the Same for me as well, but we love to praise Him together. Our God Is An Awesome God!

Oh I just love to brag about our Lord! He's much to wonderful not to! Well, there was a moment several years ago where I was going through some hardships. And I went into my bedroom and turned on some worship songs and began to worship him. My soul needed Him. God promises that if we seek him, he will be found by us. So I started seeking. I was feeling horribly inside and needed desperately to be comforted. I cried and poured my heart out to Him. I fell to my kness and was sobbing when I felt arms around me, comforting me. I know that it may be hard for some to believe. But this was not my imagination at work. I felt Him hugging me lovingly. He was giving me the comfort I desperately needed! I will NEVER forget this experience.

Soblessed, I understand when you say there is nothing like His touch....

Absolutely! Thank You for sharing that testimony. It brought tears to my eyes, but a swelling to my heart. I thank Our Lord so much for all His promises He gave us,and for the fact that we can depend on Him to keep His word! He loves it when we hunger and thirst for more of Him,and when we include Him in all areas of our life. I thank Him for all our wonderful Praise & Worship singers as well who have a wonderful ministry through their songs. There are many that are such a blessing to me too.

You sure hit on the way out of the doldrums, just start meditating on our awesome Lord and worshipping Him and our spirit lifts.

Bornagain77 This is not hard to believe at all! I have felt His embrace many times. In fact I believe it is His will to hold us in such a way as He said in the Gospels, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem! How oftem have I long to gather you unto Myself as a mother hen longs to gather her chicks under her wings...." Has Jesus changed since He said those words? Of course not. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. So that must mean that He desires to hold us close and comfort us. All we have to do is accept His love and believe He IS holding us close. Probably more often then we know! ;)

How about another "braggin' on Jesus" story? Well, I am a person who is on SSD, (disability payments) These payments are barely enough to pay my rent etc. I do some art work and write and direct plays to help me get by. I was having a tight month finacially. People had promised to buy prints of my work but they weren't "coming through" for me. I mean when your counting pennies it's rough. So I told the Lord about it and kept leaving it in His hands. :crossrc:

One Sunday I went to Church. The main theme that Sunday was "family." We are all family and we all need to care about one another. Church was suppossed to be a safe place where we could talk about our needs and problems. So you know the plight of the single person, especially if your an older single person. (48) At times they are simply forgotten, not invited, left to fend for themselves. In any group situation people tend to pair off into cliques (sp?) I kept praying that God would guard my heart against cynicism. Well, at the end of the meeting someone came up to me, "here!" They said, "We felt we wanted to give this to you." They handed me one hundred dollars! I'm glad I had been giving cynicism to Him.

Remember the orders for art prints? They all came through within the next day or so.

And then I needed a table and chairs that I hadn't replaced after the flood I had back in April. The flood? That's another story I'll have to tell you sometime. My sister calls me and tells me that she found a table and chairs for me. "I felt Jesus wants me to give this to you." Jesus knows I love grape vines. There is grapevine stenciling on the table and chairs. All I have to do is a slight touch up job.

He is a 5 star Husband that takes good care of His beloved!;)

Next time I'll have to tell you about the time Jesus found me a wedding ring!

Okay, so I have wonderful things to brag about Jesus and what he's done for me. But I also wanted to share what he's done for members of my family.

My brother was recently going through financial hardship. He lost his job and has a wife and baby to take care of. My father at the time was visiting Argentina when he had problems and needed us to send funds to him right away. For my brother, it was time to make a car payment, but instead he sent the funds to my dad to help him. Days later he went to a Cash loan place and borrowed money to pay his car. He was not looking forward to making his car payment because he was very late by this time. But when he arrived at the man's house who had sold him the car. The man told him he had been praying and God put in his heart not to charge him for that month. And so he didn't charge my brother a dime! God is Faithful!!! He provides...

~ My brother-in-law recently started having heart problems. he has a very tough job that requires being active all 10 hours that he works. The doctors told him that his heart was not receiving enough oxygen and that he couldn't go back to work. This was a major scare for all of us. The doctor did not seem to positive about his situation. And told him he could have no stress at all and was not going to work anymore. This was going to bring major financial problems to his family since he was the only provider. Again, God is faithful. We prayed and prayed and prayed. And the next week when he went in for more tests, the doctors could not find a single thing wrong with his heart. My brother-in-laws heart was completely healed! Amen!

~ My sister had endometriosis. For those of you that don't know what it is, it's tissue buildup (among other things) on the ovaries. And it spreads to the muscle on the legs and so on. This is a very painful thing. Now my sister was 24 at the time this was happening. She was young and wanted to have children. But because the buildup had spread over her ovaries, the doctors told her to start trying right away but didn't give her much hope. The thought of not having any more children hurt her a lot (she was already blessed with 2 children before this). They even operated once to try to remove the endometriosis but it was too advanced. If they would have tried to remove it, they would have damaged the muscles and tendons, so they didn't even try. For many months, my sister and husband cried and prayed and begged to have another child. This was their biggest desire. She turned 25 and still no baby, and the little hope that her doctor had diminished. But my sister knew she served a God that was faithful to his promises. And his word says that he hears the desire of the afflicted and encourages tehm and listens to their cry. (Psalm 11:17). Now at 27 my sister has a BEAUTIFUL 1 year old baby girl. What a blessing! Oh but the Lord did not stop there! He healed her from her endometriosis completely! Even the doctors admitted that it could only have been a miracle from God. We have a God that heals us.

Psalm 21:2 You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips.

Everyone:

I posted this on a different forum. I'd like to share it here as well. Couldn't resist telling you this story although a few already know, I had to share it on the open forum. I was just too excited to keep it a secret between a few friends. I've been so busy I haven't even told my other buddies yet.

This may seem a little strange to some but over the years Jesus has called me "Isha." This usually occurs when I'm speaking in tongues. Ask me how I know when He is speaking? Well....I just do! I always knew it is the Hebrew term for woman.

In the past few years or so a word that I continually heard from Jesus sounded like shel-lee I thought perhaps this was a Hebrew name or Aramaic or maybe just in the heavenly language that Paul talks about in Corinthians. In any case, I asked my jewish friend, Margolit actually to see if she could find any such name in a Hebrew book of names. She came up with nothing.
Awww! I was a little disappointed and still very curious to see if the word had any meaning.

Which brings me to Sunday afternoon. A long time friend of mine who is a rabbi of a Messianic group in Isreal was visiting the States and speaking at our church. Suddenly I had the bright idea
idea3.gif
Maybe shel-lee was not a name but a word. Who better than to ask but my Hebrew speaking friend?
So I asked Him.

"Eddy is there a Hebrew word that sounds like [/I]shel-lee?"

He asked me to repeat it several times. "Oh yes!" He said. "It means mine!"

I couldn't believe it! My heart did flip flops!
upside.gif
All the time Jesus had been saying "Mine! Mine! (You are) Mine!"

I also asked Him about Isha. He said right away, "That means wife! " Double flip flop!
biggrin.gif

Now in my fiction story I had been spelling Shel-lee sha-lee but I was not pronouncing it with the "a" sound like "a" as in apple. Eddy just translated the word the way he heard me say it. At any rate I can't loose because the term shalee I found out is an indian word which translated means "soft."

But before I posted this testimony I asked Eric, our resident Hebrew scholar if what Eddy told me was true. He confirmed it but insisted sha-lee didn't mean the same thing. I had just mis- spelled the word. (I can't even spell engish words as you already know.)

So I praise Jesus for being so personal to each of us. You who know me would understand how much this means to me! What a wonderful treat to receive a double whammy of a blessing in the same day!

Here's another word...Does anee mean anything? "A" as in open your mouth and say "aaaaa!" and "knee" a-nee

W-h-e-w! That was just an awesome testimony Kisstheson. I can just imagine the way your heart felt at hearing such fabulous news Sunday! One of those very special times when Jesus feels so real and personal, and very dear to us,and we feel how very dear we are to Him. Those times are the real treasures we may enjoy in this life. Thank you for sharing that. God Continue Blessing You. :hug:
