• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good morning,

I wonder if some of you can help me as I'm just about on the edge.

I have been thinking that I need deliverance from evil spirits because of the things I was into (satanism etc).

But when I read of the key indicators for BPD, out of the 10 I check 8 of them. Do I need deliverance or do I need to go see my doctor and get a diagnosis?

I'm so confused....my life is out of control and I feel like I'm about ready to crack. I want to follow God but yet I can't stop drinking - in the last week I've been sober 3 nights out of 7....then I'm coming into work hungover. When I'm drinking it makes some things better but other things much worse....after a few drinks at times I "disappear" and someone else appears that is very violent, abusive and self-harming.

I'm 39 years old and am getting to the stage where I just can't cope with this.

Any thoughts?

The subject of possesion is tabu in this forum as it can be perceived as insulting to some who have a legitimate illness. There are deliverence forums on here which will discuss this.
personaly I recomend seeing a Christian councelor expirienced in BPD.if you het 8 of 10 there is a good chance you have bpd though that does not rule out additional issues.

Hi,:)
first off I feel for what you're saying, because I used to have a major drinking problem & used to be in the occult as well.

Personally, I think you have a bunch of stuff/ factors going on there.
Maybe things are all coming together like now, at this time in your life because God wants you to fully surrender to Him. Giving your life over to Jesus is the first step.

Because of your past Satanism involvement, I do believe you need someone who can minister to you in that area (it helped me very much), meaning someone who can agree with you in Jesus name and take authority over any demonic influences in your life, and help lead you into prayers of repentance & renouncing in these areas, also show you things in the Bible that can strengthen your faith in dealing with any demonic attacks. Some may call this "deliverance ministry" or it may just be through pastoral ministry or even ministry by the prayer ministers/intercessors in your church (it looks like you attend a Vineyard church?).

As far as the drinking goes, it's easy for those of us who are involved with psychology, to forget, that even though getting drunk may be a problem it's also sinful. It's something to repent of as well as get help for. This is also an issue to bring to pastoral counseling.

I'm not saying that a doctor couldn't do some good, but a Christian one, or even a Christian counselor or experienced pastoral counselor can help (possibly even more). This is because a non Christian one won't have a clue, won't have understanding and take seriously the very real effect that being involved in the occult/Satanism, can have on your soul mind & spirit.
Even if you do go to a doctor, please also get some help through an experienced Christian ministry, at your own church or wherever- to help you deal with those things that are clearly spoken of in the Bible.

Lifting up a prayer for you:prayer:

Just to mention, as far as I know, they don't have the deliverance or spiritual warfare forums anymore. These issues should be able to be mentioned at some point somewhere, by Christians.
By acknowledging that "something of the demonic" can occur in someone’s life- isn't the same thing as saying everyone who has a psychological issue is "possessed".

True, we can't claim that every issue in a persons life is a demon, but if we are Christians and believe the Bible, the Bible mentions "that we wrestle not against flesh & blood, but against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places"(Ephesians 6:12). It's a reality.

I mean, do we really have to be like PC correct (well not PC correct but whatever would be comparable) here on a Christian board?

I tend to agree but in the past this has been a tabu subject here but like you I don't see any spiritual warfare or deliverence threads.
the reason this have been previously banned in here is as a ministry site dealing with a sometimes very volitol condition this can be a problematic subject inevitaly someone has said to many here that their disease is not real it's just a manifestation of sin, demon posesion, or some such nonsence. This can be painful and insulting or may cause someone who needs counceling or medication to stop. The last thing I want to see is someone leave councel to tragic results because of insensitivity. sometimes the right thing happens to be pc also.
That said, there should be another area to discuss this perhaps we should petition for it.

It sounds like as though you do need deliverance from possible alcoholism but as for the possible borderline personality disorder, I think you need to see a doctor. As for your previous involvement in Satanic activities, you may need to see a priest about that if you are concerned that you are possessed or oppressed or anything. I'll pray for you. :crossrc:

Also, you may find the following spiritual warfare prayer to be helpful. I have found it to be helpful in my own life:

SPIRITUAL WARFARE PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I love You, I praise You, and I worship You. I thank You for sending your Son Jesus Who won victory over sin and death for my salvation. I thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit Who empowers me, guides me, and leads me into fullness of life. I thank You for Mary, my Heavenly Mother, who intercedes with the holy angels and saints for me.

Lord Jesus Christ, I place myself at the foot of Your cross and ask You to cover me with Your Precious Blood which pours forth from Your Most Sacred Hearth and Your Most Holy Wounds, Cleanse me, my Jesus, in the living water that flows from Your Heart. I ask You to surround me, Lord Jesus, with Your Holy Light.

Heavenly Father, let the healing waters of my baptism now flow back through the maternal and paternal generations to purify my family line of Satan and sin. I come before You, Father, and ask forgiveness for myself, my relatives, and my ancestors, for any calling upon powers that set themselves up in opposition to You or that does not offer true honor to Jesus Christ. In Jesus' Holy Name, I now reclaim any territory that was handed over to Satan and place it under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

By the power of Your Holy Spirit, reveal to me, Father, any people I need to forgive, and any areas of unconfessed sin. Reveal aspects of my life that are not pleasing You, Father, ways that have given or could give Satan a foothold in my life. Father I give to You any unforgiveness; I give to You my sins; and, I give to You all ways that Satan has a hold of my life. Thank You, Father for these revelations, thank You, for Your forgiveness and Your love.

Lord Jesus, in Your Holy Name, I bind all evil spirits of the air, water, ground, underground, and netherworld. I further bind, in Jesus' Name, any and all emissaries of the satanic headquarters and claim the Precious Blood of Jesus on the air, atmosphere, water, ground, and their fruits around us, the underground, and the netherworld below.

Heavenly Father, allow Your Son Jesus to come now with the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the holy angels and the saints to protect me from all harm and to keep all evil spirits from taking revenge on me in any way.
(Repeat the following sentence three times; once in honor of the Father, once in honor of the Son, and once in honor of the Holy Spirit.)
In the Holy Name of Jesus, I seal myself, my relatives, this room (place, home, church, car, plane, etc…), and all sources of supply in the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

(To break and dissolve all satanic seals, repeat the following paragraph three times in honor of the Holy Trinity because satanic seals are placed three times to blaspheme the Holy Trinity.)

In the Holy Name of Jesus, I break and dissolve any and all curses, hexes, spells, snares, traps, lies, obstacles, deceptions, diversions, spiritual influences, evil wishes, evil desires, hereditary seals, known and unknown, and every dysfunction and disease from any source including my mistakes and sins. In Jesus' Name, I break and dissolve any and all links and effects of links with: astrologers; bohmos; channelers; charters; clairvoyants; crystal healers; crystals; fortune tellers; mediums; the New Age Movements; occult seers; palm, tea leaf, or tarot card readers; psychics; santeros; satanic cults; spirit guides; witches; witchdoctors; and Voodoo. In Jesus' Name, I dissolve all effects of participation in séances and divination, Ouija boards, horoscopes, occult games of all sorts, and any form of worship that does not offer true honor to Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit, please reveal to me through word of knowledge any evil spirits that have attached themselves to me in any way. (Pause and wait for words to come to you, such as: anger, arrogance, bitterness, brutality, confusion, cruelty, deception, envy, fear, hatred, insecurity, jealousy, pride, resentment, or terror. Pray the following for each of the evil spirits revealed)

In the Name of Jesus, I rebuke you spirit of _________________. I command you to go directly to Jesus, without manifestation and without harm to me or anyone, so that He can dispose of you according to His Holy Will. I thank You, Heavenly Father for Your love. I thank You, Holy Spirit for empowering me to be aggressive against Satan and evil spirits. I thank You, Jesus, for setting me free. I thank you, Mary for interceding for me with the holy angels and the saints.

Lord Jesus fill me with charity, compassion, faith, gentleness, hope, humility, joy, kindness, light, love, mercy, modesty, patience, peace, purity, security, serenity, tranquility, trust, truth, understanding, and wisdom. Help me to walk in Your Light and Truth, illuminated by the Holy Spirit so that together We may praise, honor, and glorify Our Father in time and in eternity. For You, Lord Jesus, are, "…the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6 NAB), and You "…have come that we might have life and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10 JB)

"God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. MY strength and courage is the Lord, and he has been my savior" (Isaiah 12:2 JB). Amen. Alleluia. Amen.

It's long but it really does help. God bless!

The last thing I want to see is someone leave councel to tragic results because of insensitivity. sometimes the right thing happens to be pc also.

If that counsel is godly, and it is helping that person, and in the process their relationship w/ Jesus is healthy and still growing, then for that person it isn't a hindrance to their faith.

We must also trust God to keep us, & others from tragic results, and be open to whatever ways God might use to keep us from such tragedy.

In either case we (myself included) should be careful to refrain from premature judging (do we know all the issues & factors in that persons life?) & condemnation- over which way they are seeking & are able to receive help from God.
That through, which ever way, they are first putting their trust in Jesus to help/heal them and not in medications, a deliverance minister, pastor or counselor.

I think we should always encourage others to choose the ways their conscious is clear & they are walking in an act of faith toward God, that they in good faith believe this is the method God wants to use at this time in their life.

That said, there should be another area to discuss this perhaps we should petition for it.

This sounds good, and I agree. I know there are others here on CF who would also appreciate this as well. There should be a place where people can go and freely ask and discuss their "condition" or issues from a purely spiritual standpoint, and be able to recieve input from a "spritual warfare" point of view. The other-(medical/physical case) is also true.

Right now since the warfare option is lacking, I think you will find more discussion around the mental health furums, on these very things. Hopefully, either way they won't be hindering or discouraging people against whatever way God is using that is making them healthier and improving their emotional & spiritual maturity

I think we are largely in agreement. You may note my own recomendation was a Christian councelor as there is a spiritual element to all we do and we are espessialy vulnerable when we open up to a councelor. Also a Christian is not going to reject gains made through faith as someone grounded in "modern psychological theory" alone.

Deliverance from alcoholism? Alcoholism is just as much as disorder as asthma...

BPD is not an illness of demons, it is an illness that pervades every aspect of life, inclusive to spiritual.

I've just finished a degree in social policy, a part of that was doing some social work papers. I'm far from being an expert, however there were a couple of models of health that we looked at that I really like because they encourage the looking at a person as a wholistic being, who has many different areas that they need support in.

Its a Maori model of health but I'll give you the english version

Te Whare Tapa wha (Four walled house) based on the idea that a house needs to have four good walls in order to stand strong against the storms of life.

Taha Hinegaro: Mental health, thoughts feelings, mental well being

Taha whanau: family connections, often connections with family if they are stressed or strained can lead to extra stress or burden on the person.

Taha Wairua: spirituality: spiritual stuff can interact on the natural

Taha tinana: Physical, if the physical well being is not all sorted it can lead to things being out of wac for the person.

Four walls, all important to maintaining a healthy state of being. If one if broken or damaged it can lead to damage of the whole house.

Yes it could be a spiritual thing, however I think its critical that you get yourself along to the doctor for a full checkup
