I respect your position on the matter.

By the same token, according to your very own reasoning, the op should be resistant to allowing one's parents and friends to interpret the gospel for him/her. Especially when those individuals are lacking in understanding of scripture as has been taught for 2000 years and carried on by oral tradition of the CATHOLIC church.

What is so entertaining about going into a forum that you have no interest in to make fun of people? I think boy bands are stupid, but I'm not gonna waste my time looking for forums dedicated to them and make fun of their fans, what would be the point.

What is this person trying to accomplish?

Why should it make her angry that people believe in God or the Bible?

Does that in some way affect her life?

Why do people insist on being unhappy? Spending your time in a forum (room, city, country whatever) with a lot of people you disagree with certainly isn't a recipe for happiness.

Does it make you clever if you figure out that you can choose a Christian denomination in your profile so that you can post in the Christians-only forums?

Why would someone with ALL the answers ask SO many questions?

This is not a thread to proclaim the decisions of the Catholic Church. The "OP" is not of the Catholic Faith so quoting tons upon tons of Catholic documentation to defend the position is like me quoting any number of documents written by any number of positions.

Please don't make this a Catholic debate, that's not what this is about. You can't go quoting them on one hand proclaiming their validity then on the other hand stating how they are the only ones capable of interpreting the scriptures. By that reasoning nobody should read the bible because none of us are capable of understanding it.

I believe that the scripture are what should be quoted here. The Catholic Church's interpretation is only one among many interpretations and cannot be taken in place of the actual reading of the scripture and what it says. The "OP" must interpret the scripture for themselves and follow what they believe the Lord has put upon their heart.

However I do agree with you, VERY STRONGLY, that her parents and friends should not interpret either the Lord's will for her life OR the scriptures and what they would say to her. In that you are very right.

Im sorry you disagree with the catholic position as a habit.

I am free to quote and utilize teachings of the church as I see fit. Just as you are free to interpret the bible in your own personal way. However, you are not a teacher of the faith therefore more than likely your attempts at scriputre quoting are more than likely falsely and incorrectly applied.However, I do not in any way want to discourage you in your beliefs and faith.

Aren't we all teachers of the faith? Didn't Christ command us ALL to spread the Good News?

I agree, this thread should probably have ended right there. However, since it has somehow turned into a Catholic/Protestant debate, I'm going to try to steer it back on course.

UtahRaptor: You asked us for advice. We gave advice based on the Bible (unequally yoked, etc) and practicality (will cause undue tension, holidays, will confuse children, etc.) The point is, you asked.

Second, I'm not a fool. It's a very rude thing to say, especially when talking to people who are trying to help you.

Third, Jesus was a Jew when He was on earth, because He came to fulfill the Old Testament. If God is a Jew, does he deny the divinity of Jesus? Is He waiting for the Messiah still?

Fourth, you say God was a Jew. I'd ask you not to refer to God in the past tense, since He's still alive (eternal.)
