I was digging through my hardware cabinet and unearthed a box of my old CPUs. Here is the chronological list going back to my first CPU. Some of the CPUs, not in the photo, have since moved on to wafer heaven.

The years listed are an approximate date of when I had the CPU installed.
  • Intel 386 - 1994
  • Intel 486 - 1994
  • Pentium 133 - 1995
  • AMD K6 (Little Foot) - 1997
  • AMD Athlon K7 (Thunderbird) - 2000
  • AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Thoroughbred) - 2002
  • AMD Sempron 2200+ (Thoroughbred) - 2004 (installed in a separate PC)
  • AMD Athlon 64 2800+ (Newcastle) - 2004
  • AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice) - 2005
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 - 2008
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 - 2009 (installed in a separate PC)
  • Intel Core i3-3200 - 2012
  • Intel Core i3-4150 - 2014
  • Intel Core i5-4460 - 2015
  • Intel Core i7-4790 - 2016

That's a cool picture.

My first one was an 8086, but my second one was a 386 SX/16. I used to enjoy tinkering with those machines, and the old DOS versions as a kid.

My first was an 8086 as well. I upgraded to a 386-33/DX, then a 486-66 later. I had considered building one of those old systems, to run my BBS again, but some things are better left in the past.

Would you sell the 386? Would bring back so many memories.

My first computer when I was seven was a 386 with w 3.0. Good times.

I remember all of those generations though. Good times.

The first four on my list are the ones I don't have anymore. Sorry.

Neat picture. Interesting.

I should of salvaged the CPU from my old laptop, now I regret. Bought back in 2005 had some sort of Pentium M, recently disposed of it.

This is an Intel Celeron 550 (Merom) CPU from 2006 that I took out of my wife's laptop after it broke. It's smaller than a desktop CPU.

Interesting pic. My Pentium M laptop also broke. Eventually wouldn't boot anymore. Took good care of it up until then, lasted a long time.

I've got 2-3 small containers full of Hard Drives
Need to recycle them someday after I figure out what's all on them.

I think I might have 4 or 5 older hard drives in my hardware cabinet. When I want to get rid of one of them, I either drill holes in it or take it apart and use the platters for coasters.
