Born again speaks of being born spiritually.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The need for a new nature and a desire to be righteous, having a sense of ones own sinful nature, may be what you would say is a calling. A calling by God's own Spirit that draws men to the Father for cleansing and new life in Him. The beatitudes speak of those that "hunger and thirst after righteousness" (a right standing before God).
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
A person born again becomes a new creature with new desires, and a concience inclined towards pleasing God, and doing His will becomes a pleasure without burden.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
This does not mean that it is easy to die to one's self, pick up their cross or burden, and follow after Him. The old nature remains and has to be disciplined and overcome by the blood of the lamb and testimony.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Galatians 5:17 (LIV) For we naturally love to do evil things that the Holy Spirit tells us not to do; and the good things we want to do when the Holy Spirit has His way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us, and our wishes are never free from their pressures.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
