What problem do you say makes them come here? That is what I am asking? What situation merits to enter our country to stay?Fix the the problem of illegal immigrants by making it easier to come in legally. They will come in one way or another. Step one make it easier to be a legal resident. Step two enforce laws already in place such as going after employers who hire illegals and make it mandatory for all employers to use e-verify.
Do you consider it "vague" if someone decides to take your car, and the police come do an assessment of it value, and tell you to bad it was within the legal limit to take? You worked for it for you to drive and use. Your personal property. Not any longer though.Vague again. “They” are doing things you disagree with does not equate to communism or Marxism.
Do you have any evidence of this? Sounds like an opinion that's common among a lot of people who want to exclude those seeking asylum but what evidence is there for this? Why are we "catching" them to begin with? My grandparents didn't get "caught" but they were in the same position as the people on our border. The problem is..
There is a history of catch and release. And a very small minority qualify for what they claim. And just stay anyway.
They come for many reasons, why not make it a possibility to apply legally. The current procedures in place are costly and out of reach for most. The situation that merits coming is ultimately just having the desire to come here. Screen them, if they pass then start the legal process. What problem do you say makes them come here? That is what I am asking? What situation merits to enter our country to stay?
What problem merited your ancestors to come here and stay? It's probably much worse for these people on our southern borderWhat problem do you say makes them come here? That is what I am asking? What situation merits to enter our country to stay?
What are you even talking about. If they steal a car that makes them communists?Do you consider it "vague" if someone decides to take your car, and the police come do an assessment of it value, and tell you to bad it was within the legal limit to take? You worked for it for you to drive and use. Your personal property. Not any longer though.
No it was policy.Do you have any evidence of this? Sounds like an opinion that's common among a lot of people who want to exclude those seeking asylum but what evidence is there for this? Why are we "catching" them to begin with?
Caught means they cannot just walk across our border and be here at will. We have a border. My grandparents didn't get "caught" but they were in the same position as the people on our border.
Did you apply for asylum and get turned away? Why was a poor Muslim country more hospitable to my Christian grandparents than the very, very wealthy and mostly Christian USA is to poor Christians who need help?
What does not make sense to me an american. Why call this country bad, yet complain about all the people that want to escape here? And why all the concern for people of other countries when you can see awful ,poverty, desperation, and violence in our once beautiful cities? As a CHRISTIAN HOW IS IT ONE WOULD ADVOCATE SUCH COMPASSION ON THESE AND NOT THEIR OWN? Did you go to that muslim house and find his children near starvation, while he fed you a feast? Take a walk in some of our cities (if you dare) You will find people living on sidewalks, feces on the sidewalks, urine and the stench of it all. Gun shots, drug and gang violence all played out, children being killed in others. You see despertion all over the place. And as these politicians speak of the awful plight of the immigrants, while stepping over their own in their own city side walks.Does that make sense? Doesn't make any sense to me and it goes directly against my Christian values and sensibilities. You don't feel bad about it and want it to stop?
What I want to be done is for Congress to look at the situation at our border for the last 20 years, see that the current immigration laws aren't working, and discuss and pass comprehensive immigration reform for the first time since arguable 1965. The current laws aren't enough to deal with the issue, then change them, as simple as that. If you want specifics, I can give you that as well, but I don't want to type them all out if you aren't going to read them.I know there are issues sure. But I am seriously asking, what do you want done? To destroy our country and violate our laws is not a solution.
Again to you as well. Show them the plight of those living in the inner cities that are rampant with the homeless, rampant with gun and gang violence. Then show them the plight of your own. Ask them is this better for you? If they say no, let them stay, but when you do, provide something better for your own while you are at it.They come for many reasons, why not make it a possibility to apply legally. The current procedures in place are costly and out of reach for most. The situation that merits coming is ultimately just having the desire to come here. Screen them, if they pass then start the legal process.
What have you proposed to be done for the poor and homeless, and those killed by gunfire in American cities? Do they get included? What I want to be done is for Congress to look at the situation at our border for the last 20 years, see that the current immigration laws aren't working, and discuss and pass comprehensive immigration reform for the first time since arguable 1965. They worked under Trump. What I want to be done is for Congress to look at the situation at our border for the last 20 years, see that the current immigration laws aren't working, and discuss and pass comprehensive immigration reform for the first time since arguable 1965.
Trump handled it well. They applied in other countries. The current laws aren't enough to deal with the issue, then change them, as simple as that. If you want specifics, I can give you that as well, but I don't want to type them all out if you aren't going to read them.
This discussion is about the border and immigration law. I actually do have prefer policies I would like to see enacted to address those other issues, but if you want to talk about those you are free to start another thread. What have you proposed to be done for the poor and homeless, and those killed by gunfire in American cities? Do they get included?
Nah, I can see you are focused on others. It also would have been nice to have kept our promise to the afghans to bring them here when we left so they were not tortured and killed for helping us twenty years long. Those potential immigrants get no concern? No other immigrants get in this thread? This discussion is about the border and immigration law. Having concern for immigrants does not mean that one cannot also have other concerns. The topic of this particular discussion is immigrants at the border.Nah, I can see you are focused on others. It also would have been nice to have kept our promise to the afghans to bring them here when we left so they were not tortured and killed for helping us twenty years long. Those potential immigrants get no concern? Not even immigrants get concern, Americans left there as well. Pity concern for them is not to be found
Actually, no they didn't work under Trump. The number of apprehensions, which is a proxy for the number of attempted crossings, in 2019 was the highest number since 2007. The total number of deportations in 2018 was 100k less than the number in 2013. That's not handling it well. His methods were harsher, but that doesn't appear to have made them any more effective. They worked under Trump.
This thread is not about domestic policy. You want to hear my thoughts on that, make a thread focused on that.Nah, I can see you are focused on others.
Again, this thread is about the border and illegal immigration. I do agree that we didn't do right by the Afghans who helped us out, but that disgrace is on both Trump and Biden. It also would have been nice to have kept our promise to the afghans to bring them here when we left so they were not tortured and killed for helping us twenty years long. Those potential immigrants get no concern? No other immigrants get in this thread?
Just because I am talking about the southern border and immigration in a thread about the southern border doesn't mean I don't care about other things. But I'm done since it's clear you actually don't want to discuss the subject of the thread but rather use it as an excuse to complain about how bad Biden is.Americans left there as well. Pity concern for them is not to be found, while you pine over the border illegals. Americans abandon and those who were promised an escape didn't get the bus or plane ride.
Actually they did work. Once he put the policy into effect it did work. Until you are ready to address the plight of the people coming here, you are avoiding part of the "problem". I suspect perhaps you do not want to discuss that because our own cities and our own people are no more "safe", or well off than some of thes immigrants. Some of the immigrants coming in now, they actually had it better Than those in some of our very bad and dangerous cities.Actually, no they didn't work under Trump. You want to discuss the issues in our cities, I'm more than happy to do so, but this thread is about the southern border and broader immigration policy. So either start a thread about that or stop trying to deflect from this thread.Actually they did work. Once he put the policy into effect it did work. Yes, it actually is. It is about the domestic issues of their countries of origin. When our own domestic issues are no better in our cities for our citizens, how is the immigrant somehow meriting escape? Their is no real basis for it is there? That's what I am concerned about. You can talk all you want about the system to bring them in needs to be reworked, that's fine. But What I want to discuss is what conditions merit there coming here. This thread is not about domestic policy. You want to hear my thoughts on that, make a thread focused on that.
Again, The afghans were promised immigration for their twenty year service to this country. They deserved that as everyone knows they would be tortured and killed for their service to this country. So yes they qualify as immigrants (or were) and left behind to die. We know many afghans were brought here that did not even qualify. They couldn't speak english (obviously they were not translators) and no paperwork could be found to connect them to those Afghans.Again, this thread is about the border and illegal immigration. I do agree that we didn't do right by the Afghans who helped us out, but that disgrace is on both Trump and Biden.

They should not get citizenship at all entering illegally. There is the problem. Only those who approach citizenship in a lawful manner should be allowed citizenship.
