  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

my take on it? fantasy action flick. wasn't keen on dafoe's detective's issues (wasn't quite self loathing...i never figured out what his deal was) but the rest was well done. i got a good chuckle from the deleted scene where their mum calls. :D

it happened in the old testament, i reckon it could happen again. if you see a guy coming down the street waving the jawbone of an *** you might want to take cover even if you're not a sinner ;)

I really like the parts where Willem Dafoe is reconstructing the crime in his mind, and it simultaneously shows the crime actually happening. That was really a brilliant idea. Other than that, I didn't think the movie was very good.

he's done it before, i don't see why he wouldn't do it again.

the movie's hilarious from start to finish and even creative. the guy flying off a roof with a toilet is comedy gold. though if it ever really did hit anybody, their body would be a pulpy mess from impact.

Definitely one of the great movies made. It's especially interesting when you've grown up in Boston and recognize the finish carpentry your dad did on Copley Plaza the place where the Russian mob has their little get together and know the real story about Kitty. I love the scene in the court room at the end.

first that came to my mind (referenced earlier actually)

[bible]judges 15:14-15[/bible]

and it amuses me greatly that CF censors the KJV :D

edit: Samson killed other men at other times, i picked that verse because it mentioned the Spirit of the LORD coming upon him before the carnage.

My favorite scene was when everyone had guns pulled on each other in the confessional,

"Nah, they're good kids, they'd never hurt an innocent. Well, the two Irish kids wouldn't the Italian guy might, he's, kind of an idiot."

I thought it was terrific, caught my attention when I realized there are people willing to kill for some philosophical abstract like, "Killing is wrong.". Weird. I was practically beside myself with rage at the end of the courtroom monologue.

Remember the difference in time period between the Old & New Testaments. The OT covers God's dealings with His people Israel. They were (until the times of Saul and after) a theocracy (governed by God) The Book of Judges is an account of men/women whom God raised up (Judges;) ) to rescue Israel from the judgements of God inflicted upon them due to their idolatry. Often times that meant going to war to overthrow their captors.

I like to think that the Old & New Testaments reveal unto us the foremost characteristics of God. In the OT we see His holiness, His hatred of sin and His wrath against those who would disobey Him. In the New Testament we see His love - demonstrated in the Person of God in the flesh, Jesus of Nazareth the Christ. The utterly terrible yet wonderous at the same time Crucifixion reveals God's glorious love to the nth degree !!

Thankfully, God's mercy ALWAYS triumphs over His judgement if only we will receive from Him His pardon in exchange for our sin. ;)
