Has anyone here purchased books from TAN? I have and in my opinion they are simply one of the best Catholic Book publishers! I highly recommend them. Currently, I've got books such as, Christ and the Americas, Hell: The Dogma of Hell illustrated by facts taken from Profane and Sacred History, and The Revelations of Saint Brigid to name just a few! I'm currently into the aforementioned Book: "Hell: The Dogma of Hell illustrated by facts taken from Profane and Sacred History," it has helped me to appreciate our Blessed Lord Jesus's infinite goodness, love, mercy, and the truth of the Holy Catholic Faith; and understand the extremingly sobering realities of Hell.:o It has helped me also understand better Baptism of Desire, whereas formally I was recalcitrant and wary of accepting it, whereas now I understand it better, and am more inclined towards it.

I have. I got my Douay-Rheims Bible from them, and a few other books. They publish old books.

If you want a real mind-bender, get Ludwig Ott's "Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma" from them. That'll keep you busy for a while.

I have had Tan Books and probably have some on the shelf right now but not going hunting.

Most of their products I have are paperback and I do read and ditch. I read and give the paperbacks to friends or donate them. Sometimes I leave them with the Church Bulletins after Mass.

But among my favorites I think are from Tan are Antony of the Dessert and Which Bible Should You Read ?

I also love Our Sunday Visitor publications that have titles like The Catholic Answer Book and Celebrating the Mass.

They do a good job of making sure the spiritual classics stay in circulation. I have never bought from them directly, but I've boought or borrowed used books they published. I have a friend who works for a university with one of the largest library collections in the world so I am able to borrow pretty much whatever book I want from whatever time period--so I don't buy many books. :sorry:

I have a few TAN books in my library and I love them.

I don't want to be somewhat of a wet blanket, but they do carry a few books which speak directly against the Church. Buyer beware. :)

  • Problems with the Prayers of the Modern Mass, by Fr. Anthony Cekada
Shows by actual comparison that the prayers of the Propers of the New Mass have been systematically de-Catholicized.
  • Liturgical Shipwreck: 28 Years of the New Mass by Michael Davies
The world's foremost author on the liturgical changes documents the disaster to faith and Mass attendance caused by the Novus Ordo. . . .Firm in its conclusion we must return to the traditional Mass.
  • Liturgical Time Bombs In Vatican II: The Destruction of the Catholic Faith through Changes in Catholic Worship, by Michael Davies
Quoting Bishops and Cardinals as well as liberal "experts" and Protestant observers, he exposes the "time bombs" which were built into the Second Vatican Council's document on the liturgy by a few revolutionaries in order to be exploited later--and which have been detonating ever since.

Uhm, Michael Davies was a faithful Traditionalist Catholic in communion with Holy See till his death; of that I am fairly certain. So any of Mr. Michael Davies' literature is soundly Catholic. (Besides, having read his Criticisms of the Second Vatican Council, and of the Novus Ordo Missae, his views are legitimate, non-schismatic, and valid; he could be mistaken in some of his conjectures or suppositions, but nevertheless, he was neither a schismatic nor a heretic. I have read some of his writings and find them to be edifying and find no reason to reject them; he is only being honest; my opinion, but oh well. :) )

However, Father Anthony Cekada's books most likely contains dogmatic or doctrinal error. As it stands now, Fr. Cekada is schismatic, excommunicated, and a Sedevacantist; thus, I would recommend avoiding purchasing any of his literature. :sigh:

I have one book from TAN Books in my library called "This Is The Faith: A Complete Explanation of the Catholic Faith" by Canon Francis Ripley. I read it before I converted to Catholicism and I must say that it is an excellent book!
