I have just started at Bible college and am becoming increasingly aware of the need not only to increase in understanding of God revealed in Scripture but also theological works. Can anyone recommend any books to read...? I've read some of the early church fathers and in the last year or so have worked my way through much of Ratzinger's theology. Recently I've started on Moltmann and Barth. Does anyone have any recommendations they can make for books which have greatly influenced their theology...? Thanks!

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have enjoyed "Bible Doctrine" by Wayne Grudem. I was desperately searching for a book like this when I was struggling with the term "faith." It is supposedly used as a textbook at Liberty University in Va but I have found it to be an easy read and not really worthy of the textbook title. Good luck with your search.
