Hey guys I've come up with a good idea for a Christian novel. Please swear to God (literally) that you wont steal my idea!
Theres a small island nation off the west coast of Africa called Mushedeika. It used to be part of the British empire but became independent in 1958.
It has a strong Christian heritage because of the European missionarys that came there all those years ago. The Anglican church was particulary strong.
However the country suffered extreme poverty and civil war during the 90's and their was a backlash against the Anglican church, esp for its liberal values.
Anyhow a new regime took hold of Meshedeika.
This was a theocratic Christian cult called the Church of Levi.
The CoL banned ordinary people from owning the Bible and shut down other churches and religious groups.
The CoL started perverting Christianity by teaching false doctrines such salvation by faith alone.
Now salvation is by faith and obedience to the state.
Praying is banned as it is seen as only something the priests can do. A lot of the OT laws are brought back complete with punishments.
Homosexuals are stoned to death. Women are silenced. Disobedience is rewarded with death by fire.
However God has a plan how to bring down this disgusting theocratic state. He has chosen 7 ordinary British (well actually one is American) Christians to go to Mushedeika to bring this government down.
No one is sure how they will do it, But God will use them to bring this state down just like the walls of Jericho came down by faith.
Its all about the faith these people have in God and the heart to release the captives.
What does anyone think?
I am also thinking of having the leader of this group being a celebiate gay Christian. this will get accross the idea that God loves gay people and that many brave gay Christians are fighting temptations of the flesh and heart every day.
