  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Oh my good gravy they HUUUUUUUUUUUURT! So bad. I really need to get a good super duper, extra support bra. I need something to lug these puppies around in (I'm a D). It feels like I've got 2 cement bags hanging from my nipples haha.

So question. Should I get a maternity bra? Or should I just go get a normal bra and eventually grow out of it? Will a maternity bra (not a nursing bra) have the support that I need?

I agree with jgonz. I got a nursing bra when I went up my first cup size because my mum said that she went up two cup sizes in pregnancy and then back down one while she nursed. So I figure I'll be needed one cup size larger than my pre pregnancy size while nursing. If it's not a nursing bra, what's the difference between a maternity bra and a normal bra:confused: They don't recommend underwire bras in pregnancy:( because your breasts change shape so much and so quickly.

Wait til you get a new bra SOTFB! It makes such a difference to the way the girls feel!

Mine hurt like crazy too & were totally OFF limits if ya kwim!! I did get 2 regular bras one size up that did not have underwire & those kept riding up. So I went to wally world looking around & found a very very comfy cotton bra with a underwire that I loooove! Cheap too. I didn't want to get a nursing bra just yet I'll wiat til later on. But I have to say I think that sleeping bra really helped as well. I don't wear it every night but every now & then.

I started out the same size as you and I honestly couldn't find a decent maternity bra. They only seem to cater properly for the smaller sizes. At that size you definitely need underwire and it's difficult to find an underwire maternity bra that has good support.

What I found to be the best solution for me was to by a normal bra that the straps clip on at the front. That way I would just unclip the one side when I needed to feed. It worked perfectly for me.

I used a non-wired maternity bra for sleeping.

All I know with the sleep bra is I went into Motherhood Maternity & the girl asked me if I had one & of course I didn't. I said what is the deal with it & she told me that docs recommend them if you sore boobs. Well, immediately I said I'll take one. I wore it for a few nights & no sore boobs. So maybe you can get one & try to see if it helps. It kinda looks like a prettier sports bra & fits snug.

No, they tell you to wait, unless you just want to. I have the same problem, acutally I have an 8 month old baby and just stopped breast feeding 1month ago, i'm like a 36 H.... it SUCKS! And i'm about to go bra shopping... i'm in despearate need. I really think that if I didn't have the trouble finding a comfy bra during pregnancy, then it'd cut down on half the irritation and discomfort.

They usually tell you to wait till a couple weeks before your supposed to deliver before buying a nursing bra, because when the milk comes in you grow a size or two in addition to what you already are.... so you'd probably want to buy one with some room too grow.

It's up to you, but right now you don't really need a nursing bra, but a good supportive comfortable bra (good luck with that... i shop and shop and shop for bras.... spend lots of money, and have complaints with each one)

I Hate bras witout underwire, they bunch! That is mainly what the maternity stores sell, or they sale medela bras with underwire and well, at my size they just are not supportive enough. They were a god send when I found the size G with my first pregnancy, but after that size in my opinion, they just are not supportive enough.

If I could find a cammy in my size that I felt held my girls up and was comfy, that'd be great. But I doubt it's possible, I hate the sensation of wearing a bra that feels like just cloth over saggy boobs with an uncomfortable band underneat bunching or making me sweat or something, the bra has got to hold me up, no skin to skin contact!

:sigh:

With my first baby I wore a sports bra while sleeping to hold the pads in, but boy with the constriction of any kind on some spots, i'd wake up engorged, Well, i'd wake up engorged anyways, now when nursing I just sleep with a towel over the girls, i find that so much more comfy.

I hate bras! If I didn't need the support so badly I'd just go without.

Every time I even try on a bra with an underwire I get told not to buy it because it'll be bad for my breasts as they grow or it'll block a milk duct. But you girls have empowered me to go buy an underwire bra. a) they make them in my size, and b) they give so much better support!

Lol HisBlood, I hope mine don't grow anymore when my milk comes in. Seriously, I don't think I could handle that.^_^ :sigh:
