  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a friend who wanted to see Bride & Prejudice so I obliged her, and I found that it had many corny yet funny moments, and overall was decent for a Hollywood/Bollywood crossover. However, other than this film, I have only seen Boom which I did not really like that much, I thought it carried on too long.

However, though this is not typical Bollywood, I saw that film Salaam, Bombay! and thought it was very powerful and moving (a sad, sad story about homeless youths in Bombay and their struggles. It was very powerful.

I have meant to see Monsoon Wedding but other than this I am not particularly interested in Bollywood films.

I watched salaam bombay too, it was on tv a while back. It was a pretty good movie I guess. but I was very disapointed because although it is an indian movie, it is not a bollywood style movie. It was played during what is called "bollywood freetime," on one of my local channels, and I was fully expecting it to have song and dance in it. I feel as if I was misslead.

Monsoon wedding is terrible, not only does it not really have any song and dance, but the story isn't particularly moving either.

I think bride and prejudice was great! it is a bit corny, a bit cute, but that's the bollywood style I love! I think it is a great cross over and a great place to start.

There are so many great bollywood movies out there.

My favorates are Dil Se, kuch kuch hota hai, and kabhi kushi kabhi gham. the latter two are youor typical sappy love story (with a twist of course), but dil se is really moving too. I have it on my computer, if you would like me to send it to you (bollywood films are typically very hard to find in a movie store unless you live in india or an indian area).

The next movie I'd like to see is 1942: a love story. I've heard good things about it.

anyway, I encourage you to keep exploring bollywood. I know there is the stereo type that it's full of terrible, sappy movies. But there are so many good and moving ones too.

To me, what makes bollywood great is the song and dance. If you're not into that, then I don't see the point watching indian films over american films. I think that's why I love bollywood so much, I was into musicals long before I ever discovered bollywood.

Hey is anyone here into bollywood?

I love it. I havent seen that many movies, but the ones I have seen are amazing.

The last one I saw was Dil Se.

So.... Let's talk about bollywood

Of course! Being an Indian, I'm more or less compelled to be into Bollywood. I have to admit that Bollywood films are rather strange, but they're quite entertaining. Bollywood is certainly a welcome break from American films!
