• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Morning,

I am so exhausted it physically hurts! I'm wondering if all my sleepness nights, not being able to fall asleep and the constant "spinning" of my mind has finally caught up to me and my body is just crashing

I am falling asleep now adays  but I am getting up with only 4 hours sleep (not so good for one that needs at least 7 hours sleep  ) Sometimes I am able to go back to a restless sleep, most of the time not.

I think the new meds are working as I have found excitement over small things. eg. A baby robin left by his mother for training purposes I guess. He just sat there believing no one could see him :) After about an hour he started calling for his mom.

Trying to keep my eyes open

Hello WantToBe!

The "Body Breakdown" is something that I'm sure many of us are familiar with. Personally, I have had cycles in which I got little sleep at all for as long as 6 months.

The brain continues working and as a result, decides to shut down or scale back on other facilities of your body. It's not uncommon under these circumstances to experience what amounts to muscle atrophy and diminished cognitive function, like trouble with concentration or memory.

I've found in the past, that getting up after those few hours of sleep and trying to get on with your day can sometimes let your body form a routine in which it will eventually give you more sleep.

Keeping up with the meds is very important, but if you have continued trouble with sleep, your therapist may be able to regulate your sleep cycle with an added medication.

Good luck, God bless and my prayers on some restful sleep!
