Hi, my name is Bloom Woodlock. You may think I am the average American girl, right? Ha! You see, there's no way I'm average. To be average, you have to be a mortal. In other words, a human. Two-legger. Weird-looking. Actually, I am a wood fairie princess. I am princess of all the land from Great River to Small Dogwood. For us fairies, that's a pretty long way.
Now I bet you're wondering how I conceal my identity. Well, that's a pretty good question, and I feel obliged to answer it. A little bit of hollyberry here, a touch of ivy there, and I look just like you, or that person over there. For all you know, the person sitting right next to you could be a fairie child. You could even be a fairie child, just you don't know it.
As of today, I am 3.1 thousand years old in fairie years. In mortal years, I'm 12 years of age. I am enrolled in a daily event called 'school' and a level called '6th grade'. Have you ever heard of those? I think they go by age. The fairies' vast storage of information is much more capable than a humans' and we pride ourselves for that.
I have a few friends. Most are fairies, some are half-fairies/half-human, and one is a human. I don't have any pixie friends because for a pixie and a fairie to be friends would be an unspeakable act, no matter what our ancestors said. It is hard for the human, Cassie, to relate to the rest of us, but we try the best we can to get ourselves together sometimes. Cassie has seen the fairie dimesion and that's the problem. If any non-fairie (such as mortals, trolls or ogres - they're all the same to me) sees it, they become almost permanently blind because if non-fairies (such as mortals, trolls, or ogres) visit again, they can see again. So its kinda of 50/50 there. Cassie comes to visit us all the time, so we decided that we couldn't put her through the mental stress of being blind on and off. We gave her an enchanted necklace as a gift from my parents, the King and Queen of the fairie dimension (Even if she is a mortal).
The necklace has charms on it, like hollyberries, that allow her to roam between the worlds. She doesn't abuse her power, and we're all glad. Her parents believe in fairies, so they're okay with us flying all over when we go to visit. They only ask that we watch our feet so that we don't knock anything over. And, thank goodness, they aren't obsessed with fairies. So at least we don't have to worry about being captured about being captured by some nut.
Anyhow: To get to this 'school', I must ride this big yellow monster that rolls upon the black thing lining the ground. You mortals call the yellow thing a 'school bus' and the black thing that covers the beautiful Earth a 'road'. However, if you ask me, I do not like this 'bus', because it is much more fun flying to school.
Even if mortals do stare at me, I'd still rather fly than ride the bus. I hide my wings when I arrive at 'school' and let them stretch after school. It is a big comfort to stretch my wings after a long day of spelling, arithmetic, and ecosystems all day.
Usually my 'after-school snack' as you mortals so fondly call it, are sweet berries from Woodchuck's bushes and nuts from Squirrel's tree. Woodchuck and Squirrel are my parents', the King and Queen, advisors and close family friends. They give us berries and nuts, and in return we give them sentries to guard their homes at Night while they are in slumber and during Day when they are at work. Even if we didn't have that little wager, we'd still all be the best of friends.
All of my fairie and half-fairie friends live near me, because their parents all work with my parents in one way or another. The pixies live on the other side of the Stream, in the other dimension. You see, we are not in the galaxy Milky Way, but Night Sky. Pretty appropriate, huh. We use the tesseract to get back and forth to Earth, any other way would take lightyears. Neither of us cross into each other's territory (the fairies and pixies), but we do keep a wary eye upon them.
Am tired typing, will finish typing it up later. Opinions would really be appreciated.
