  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I read a terrific story from a friend and wanted to share it with all of you. It is very encouraging and sends a great message about trusting in God. No matter what struggles you are facing right now, know that God loves you and there is a reason for everything. Some injustices or wrongful sufferings can be a blessing in disguise. Trust in God and know that all things work together for the good for those who love him. I love this story...enjoy!

There once was this African king. He had a very good friend who always said in any situation, "This is good". One day the king and his friend were out hunting. The friend would load and prepare the guns and the king would do the shooting. With one gun, the friend accidentally prepared the gun improperly and when the king shot the gun, it misfired and his thumb was completely blown off.
His friend said, "This is good."
The king was very angry and said, "How could this be good? My thumb is gone!!" He then threw his friend in jail.

About a year later, the king was out hunting again. He was hunting in an area where he shouldn't have been. After a while, a group of cannibals captured him and tied him up. While they were preparing the fire in which they would cook him, they noticed his missing thumb. Being a very superstitious people, they let him go as they would not eat anyone unless they were whole.

The king felt bad about what he had done to his friend in jail. He went to the jail to find him. He told him the story and apologized for treating him so badly. The friend said, "No, this is good."
The king said, "How could this possibly be good? I did not treat you well. It was an accident, and I threw you in jail. This was not good."

His friend replied, "Had you not thrown me in jail, I would have been with you."
