  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello. I know its wrong to have talismans (and?) charms in a house, since its considered magic. But is it allowed for a christian to draw a painting with crosses and text which you pray to God to protect its user? What do you think. Thanks!

Pray to the painting/with the aid of the painting you mean? Sorry, I just want to clarify.

Pray to God for the painting to have powers? Like against evil spirits.

So, you have acknowledged that having talismans or charms would be wrong, how do you believe praying for a painting to have powers is different? (I’m asking respectfully)

Paintings can be instructional helps for others, but they are not to be looked to for power or to be worshipped, or to be used to help in worship. That could lead to idolatry. God didn't give us paintings, and God gave us what we need: our spirit, His Spirit, and His written Word. John 4:24. He has also given us human teachers to assist us, Ephesians 4:11.

Yes, it is wrong to have talismans and charms around the house. No painting is going to protect anyone. That's what the Lord does.
