I have seen this bumper sticker on cars around town and it really upsets me. It says:
"Jesus Christ paid for my sins on the cros, so I'm going to get my money's worth."

What is that supose to mean? First of all, no one spent any 'money' at all, it was God's precious blood, more valuable than anything in the universe, more valuable than oil, gold, diamonds, emeralds or rubies, more valuable than any expensive high tech modern computer chips that are top of the line technology, and is this stateemnt saying that you can sin all you want to because of what Jesus did? Oh yes, feel free to sin away and spit in Jesus Christ's face, do not appreciate the pain and sacrifice He went to cleanse us of our sins, such ingratitude, the people with this bumper sticker call themselves Christians, living like atheist hedonists some example they are showing to the world. What do you think Jesus thinks of such a bumper sticker, someone saying such a thing?

DO you think they are aware of the meaning? Do they appreciate what Christ did for us, or are they only thinking of themselves and their selfish lives of fun and pleasure, sinning all they want and not caring about the consequences and who they are hurting, the fact that sin hurts God, and as Christians we should do our best not to sin and live righteous Godly, clean lifestyles.

I think this bumpersticker, the saying, and any store that sells it should be boycotted by good Christians. We must let people know the horror of what it truly means, complete selfish hedonism and total ingratitude to Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

I think that shows a lack of understanding or grasp of the full meaning of Christ going to the cross which has turned into a lack of thankfulness and gratitude for Christ doing so. I doubt they are doing this to be malicious or only to be disrespectful, but instead haven't yet been shown the true ramifications of what that did for us.

I would say it does not seem like a very Christian sticker to me. Clearly, yes, the Bible teaches against things like that sticker. This example comes to mind:

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid."
(Romans 6:1-2a)

And this:

"Let not sin therefore reign in your body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof."
(Romans 6:12)

If it is an insult against Christians and our supposed "hypocrisy", which we all know is the result of struggling with sin (see Romans 7:19-20) then they are clearly not informed.

It could be a type of insult against Christians. Someone pretending to be a Christian and mocking Christianity. They think they're funny but they're not.

Jesus was mocked on His life on earth, death on the cross and now on a bumper sticker! Don't think the last one is going to come up high on His list of offendedness! As God has told me many a time when I have been truely offended by the same sort of things...."I am your defender.. you don't need to be mine"!! I think we are called to stand in the gap for people like that, and as Jesus did, pray "Father forgive them for they know not what they do" praying for people and standing with them, is far more Gloryfing to God than standing against people, They're not our enemies, just people who are lost like we once were. xx

I think someone was trying to make money by writing dozens or hundreds of quips and selling them for bumper stickers. They were trying to be witty, in a realm where the audience doesn't give feedback...they didn't know how much of their audience would see it as a religious offense. It's a sticker that would be bought by people who like to make fun of Christians, or make fun of their own vices.

What is that supose to mean?.
It means Jesus died for the Elects Only and the regenerates have no other choice but to take the money. It's a treasure for the Elects. Thy didn't find it it was dumped on them. Just a language twist for the modern generation and for those who don't understand the Gospel. The unregenerates don't understand the spiritual things of God, anyway. This bumper sticker was probably more likely designed by an ariminan meaning that their free will is worth something if they make an effort. It's called cooperative grace like God doesn't know if you'll make the choice and like is waiting for you to save yourselves. God will be waiting forever on your choice as in free will.

He called and NONE responded.

Still none responded. No one ever will

I admire those who have said those responsible no not what they do but unfortunatly they know exactly what they're doing! I've dealt with enough atheists to know that even the most open minded atheist still releshes in this sort of mockery. That's what I believe it is anyway.

Wow, what an array of answers! I've never seen it before, but it's obviously a joke from someone who isn't a Christian but likes to party. It takes a common Christian saying and half-way accepts it as true, interpreting it to mean that we can now sin without fear of punishment. Any connection to serious theology is strictly co-incidental, as they say. ;)

I also think it's meant to be insulting towards Christians, though, I think there is a very practical truth to what it says, too.

Jesus died for my sins so it doesn't matter what I do because I'm forgiven. Putting it that way, it sounds really horrible.

And yet, something very much like that happens with heaps of Christians; it's called false grace.

Another way of wording it is "Jesus knows my heart"; this is a very popular response when Christians are confronted with their faults.

Another is "we're not under the law, but grace" which is a very common answer when Christians are challenged about their obedience to Jesus' teachings (i.e. applying the values of the kingdom of Heaven).

Another one is "He didn't mean it that way", which, again, is a common response when Christians are challenged about some of the more radical teachings of Jesus.

In many, many situations, Christians take God's grace for granted, believing that they will be forgiven simply because Jesus died on the cross, and not as a result of God choosing whom he will give his forgiveness to based on his own criteria.

and what's more, half of it is exactly correct, so maybe we shouldn't be so offended.

In a day when poking fun at our beliefs is standard operating procedure, this one actually says that Jesus died for our sins on the cross. Who knows how many unchurched people, reading that and perhaps laughing at the "money's worth" part, still have a little seed of an idea planted in their minds somewhere.

And, after all, the sentiment expressed by the owner of the bumper sticker is to the effect that it's true about Jesus...but the driver's making a joke out of the way HE's responding to it.

Thank you for wording that well. It's like laughing at one's own weakness.
