1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1Ti 3:10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

1Ti 5:7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

What does it mean to be blameless? Does that mean after you're saved or do the sinnful acts of your past stop you from being a Pastor?

1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I would guess it means without blame. :)

The question then is, to who?? Paul seems to be telling Timothy that a bishops need to be blameless, in the eyes of man. - on top of striving to be blameless at the coming of our Lord.

But i could be wrong - again. :wave:

A man's past shouldn't bar him from becoming a preacher, simply because the man's sins were washed away by the blood of Jesus.
I am currently a deacon at my church, should the fact that I ahve tattoos bar me from holding an office in the church? Because it is said also in 1Timothy that a deacon is to be blameless as well.
I have to agree with @@Paul@@

Is anyone blameless before salvation? How then could anyone be a bishop, deacon, etc.

I understand this to mean, at the very least, that these leaders in the local church must not be living in habitual sin.

To be blamsess means before God and man. The reason a man with two living wives should not be a Shepard of the flock is because he would not be blamless befor men. Leaders of the Church should be people that have a good report outside the Church, as well as in the Church. They are to be clear of any thing that may cause a week brother to stumble.
