Understanding the difference between blameless and sinless.
In the beginning of humanity there was no sin. We (first man and first woman) lived in our 'created nature'. There was no death. There was no decay.
'Sin' (to miss the mark of perfection as if aiming an arrow at a target) came into the world and death and decay were the direct result. We all know this story. It is the undoing of creation, by disconnection from The Holy Trinity.
We (humanity) carry the stain (or mark) of that original sin, but we are not at fault ourselves. This is called being blameless. A newborn child carries the stain of sin, but is blameless. The child will die, having been born into our 'fallen nature'. Decay will take the body and it shall return to dust. (Christ God shows great mercy to the blameless.)
Christ God came into the world without the stain of sin. Even to the point of HIS willingly taking on death for us, HE did not decay. Instead, death itself was broken as it could not contain a sinless one. The undoing of our created nature was stopped and creation was once again given the ability to connect to The Holy Trinity.
In this life we are called to be blameless, and upon being given our purified bodies we will indeed be sinless.
New Testament scriptures that remind us of blamelessness:
1Cr 1:8
Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Phl 2:15
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Phl 3:6
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
1Th 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 3:2
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1 Timothy 3:10
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
1 Timothy 5:7
And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
Titus 1:6
If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
Titus 1:7
For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
2 Peter 3:14
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
No one, other than Christ has been sinless. That is true Christology (the nature of Christ).
The idea of the thread is to discuss the difference in the nature of 'sinless' and 'blameless' themselves.
God be gracious to me a sinner.
