Well I like playing those games that involve shooting and alot of violence and swearing... I got black ops 2 for Christmas and I really enjoy it... Am I supposed to feel guilty about playing this game with so much violence??

Before I say this, I am in no position to judge or probably even tell you what to do. But, what my mom recently did was have me and my siblings stop playing violent games. I think there have been small positive changes in me. I don't seem to be as angry, violent, but I honestly don't see a difference in swearing :)o).
So really, it's up to you. I think it could be good for you maybe. But, at the same time if it's something fun and relaxing for you I see no reason to stop. Someone I know told me this verse once too, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. (Proverbs 4:23). I think that means we should watch what we hear, watch, and do. So, not to make you feel guilty. But, if you sense something is wrong with you playing this game maybe you shouldn't play. Pray about it too.
Hope this helps :)

P.S-Did you beat the campaign and get to see AVENGED SEVENFOLD play? :D

I see no reason to think there is anything sinful about playing violent games.
I don't know mrjames. I mean, the games make you think about the wrong things. Killing, guns, war, and etc. There also is a bit of swearing in these games, and the things that come out of our mouths come from what's in our heart.
So, I can see a problem. But, again I am in NO position to tell you guys what to do or even say I do the right thing either.

But I feel like this is a bit of a stretch, I read violent things in history class all the time, is that a sin?

If the game has any influence on you, you should stop playing it. If not then no reason to give up.

i wouldn't suggest playing those games. they are combat simulation and your mind is subconsciously is accepting what the game is emulating in your head. Like how the bible says lusting after a woman is already adultery in your heart. My credibility for saying this would be the fact i only played shooting games, no other games not even halo shooting just realistic ones.

BTW im 19 i just signed up for this site.

I used to play those games all the time, including other games where shooting or violence was also involved and didn't feel like it had any effect on me. However now I sort of seemed to grow out of it and don't fun those games as fun as I did when I was 15/16. Now I get bored of it and can't go more than 10 minutes till I find myself wanting to do other things instead like reading or watching movies/series 0_o

I have some verses for you to read from an article by wbmoore. I no longer play video games, but here is what I have to say about it. If it consumes your time, it is a sin. It is not a sin to play video games, to watch tv, to read, etc. But when you're spending 2-3 hours a day doing it, or you will play games/watch tv, movies or anime/ read all day long, especially about something that isn't Godly, that isn't productive, and it becomes a sin. This is why I have limited myself to only watching tv and anime on the weekends.

Proverbs 13:20
He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

Proverbs 22:24-25
24 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, 25 or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.

Proverbs 24:21-22
21 Fear the LORD and the king, my son, and do not join with the rebellious, 22 for those two will send sudden destruction upon them, and who knows what calamities they can bring?…

1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Although people who love and trust God, through faith in Christ, are not under supervision of the Law, it still tells us what sin is.

Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

Our music, TV shows, movies, magazines, and even friends can lead us towards sin. They can influence our thinking to believe what God calls sin is good, and vice versa.
But we are to be aware of what the world teaches and reject it.

Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

As Christians we have to resist people who are wicked.

Proverbs 28:4
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.

Romans 14:16
Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil.

James 4:4
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
We are to rid ourselves of all moral filth and evil.

James 1:21
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
Even if our friends do not make us think that what God called good is evil and vice versa, the things and people we surround ourselves with can be used to tempt us to sin.

Even Christ said,

Matthew 18:6-7
Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!

And Paul wrote:

1 Corinthians 10:32
Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God
We are called to be holy, because God is holy.

Leviticus 19:2
Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.

1 Peter 1:15-16
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

------------------------------------
After reading all this, I would pray about it. What convictions does God put upon you? I know very strong Christians who play video games and watch tv. I also know even greater leaders who don't. The key is MODERATION ...It is not a sin to do these things in moderation, but like I said before, if you let it consume you, then you better get your priorities straight. :)
