My mother in law was talking to me the other day about how I need to start trying to find birth announcements. I don't really think that anyone in my family does them and they are just SO expensive. However, we have a lot going on with the baby due in just over a month and don't have time to make them. Does anyone have any ideas?

There are a few websites that make announcements as an image that you can either have printed or you can just email people.

I have actually seen some great ideas and plan to make my own to email friends when we have the next one. If you know your way around photo editing software its really quick and easy to make your own. For certain relatives I plan on taking the image on CD to the printers and have them print a few on some high quality paper. It works out much cheaper doing it that way that actually ordering them from one of these places.

I got some nice ideas from these sites:

Hi I live in Scotland so birth announcements aren't the done thing really, plus i can only imagine it being so much work especially since you'll more than likely have lots of thank you letters to write for the gifts that people will give to the baby.

I've made a group on my mobile phone so when the baby arrives i send one text to a whole group of people announcing all the details. Once i get home and get to take a photo etc i'll send some emails around.

Don't be stressing about it, now is the time to concentrate on you and the baby.

Do you have a digital camera??? If so you can upload pics for free to walmart photo online and pick out the birth anouncement at their site and choose a picture you take with your own camera that you really like... it's so much cheaper that way! Or you can put it on a disk and take it to walmart or if you don't have a digital camera you could take a regular picture you took and get birth announcements made. I think I paid 10-15 dollars for 15-20 birth announcments..... and the pics you get done in the hospital don't do babies justice! And are very pricey. I think you can do that at walgreens photo lab too.

try shutterfly.com (a free online program) and upload your fav. pics of baby. For 12 4X8 cards, it'll cost $.69/card; for 100 4X8 it'll cost $.45/card. There are quantities in between that.

For 5X7's the cost is $.89/card for 12 up to (or down to ;)) $.55/card for 225, again, there are quantities in between.

For those looking for Christmas cards or other cards right now, the prices are the same for those cards but right now, for 25 cards or more, they are off free shipping. Another limited promotion is buy 50 and get 25, so if your babies were recently born and you have that many people to send to, you may want to look into these, or just for christmas cards.

Walgreens is $9.99/20 4x8 cards or $14.99/20 5X7 cards

Walmart is $.33/ 4x8 card
