• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Though I am not defined by bipolar, it affects my life a great deal. My question is- would bipolar be with us in the afterlife? My hope is no, but can we be sure of that from the bible?

This is kind of weird to think about, and I'm not sure if I can explain it right as I've gotten this as a vision from God (not a hallucination, an actual vision! I know the difference). But I see us in heaven as beings of perfection. Not like God, but creatures from God who have been made perfect in their faith. It's similar to nirvana, but this is because through our relationship with God he has made us into who we r supposed to be, and what we have become in Him will be what goes to heaven.

So think of it this way.. the more generous, the bigger your heart, the kinder, the more humble, genuine and loving we are (all of what Jesus has told us) the more complete and beautiful being you will be in heaven. (aka, the reaping what you sew philosophy) You know how Jesus said if your finger is causing you to sin, cut it off? I really believe that applies here...

So, in heaven, all of our goodness rises and nothing that has caused us trouble from being mortal will. If that is true, bipolar will be something that we only carry on this earth, and once in heaven our chemical imbalances, or whatever causes our illness, won't be with us anymore.

thoughts on this?

According to scripture....all things will be made new. No more tears, pain, suffering etc.
So no, bipolar doesn't fit into this pic. Don't know how it will be exactly since there is little said on the topic and more figurative analogies used when it is described such as the wedding banquet etc. But the afforementioned verse i paraphrased above is specific in this regard.

thanks for your responses..

did a little search for this online and found a nice summary:
"Ultimately, our full physical healing awaits us in heaven. In heaven, there will be no more pain, sickness, disease, suffering, or death (Revelation 21). We all need to be less preoccupied with our physical condition in this world and a lot more concerned with our spiritual condition (Romans 12:1-2). Then we can focus our hearts on heaven where we will no longer have to deal with physical problems. Revelation 21:4 describes the true healing we should all be longing for: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

so it's clear we have a lot to look forward to.we just need to keep our eyes on Jesus, and make the most of life while we're still here on earth and can impact others.

As stated earlier, we are indeed made new in heaven and we will not be sick and we will in fact be perfect as our heavenly father is perfect when we are in heaven. We will be out of this evil flesh and totally in the perfect body of heaven. 2 Cor 5 and 15 both talk about it. There are other places too I think but I cannot remember where at the moment.
