• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To me bipolar healing is having a lifestyle where we beat the illness one day at a time.
The battles are many: emotional, physical, and spiritual.
It is a journey, finding med that works best. Then stopping all the extra meds. Calm and peacful life in and out. Losing all those weight. Sleeping naturally without sleep aids. Staying away from hospital.
Finding your call, living your purpose, and ... that to me is bipolar healing. Let us believe for bipolar healing, brothers and sisters!

Absolutely true! I tried to heal my bipolar by telling myself I was healed and cutting back on my meds to prove it. That was bipolar relapse for me.

I am going to write down your post and put in on my refrigerator to remind myself everyday!

Thanks for sharing that.

I believe that God allows things to occur in our lives and that means for me - being bipolar. With proper medications and a good doctor I am stable - thank God for that. For now, this is God's plan for me and perhaps I am walking down this path because there are things I need to learn or maybe one day I'll be able to help somone else. I don't know. But what I do know is Praise God that He is in control of my life.

God is our healer. We don't dictate how and when He heals us. Being bipolar is being broken in His hand. And everyday, we are evermore aware to depend on Him. We receive our healing every morning and every night. We don't take a good night sleep for granted. We learn to know ourselves more and get to be intimate with the Jesus more every passing day.

We pass through phases. We went through pain, with our illness undiagonsed properly. At the end, when we knew we have bipolar -- we received our first healing.

Then we went through trials taking meds after meds to find the one that clicks. When we finally get there, -- we received our second healing.

In the process, we get to adjust our dreams and ambitions; our life styles; our relationships; our priorities to suite our unique needs of being bipolar. Yes, we gave up a lot on the outside; but on the inside we grew tremendously. There we receive healing moment by moment.

Then we venture in dealing the side effects of the meds; for example losing weight. We fight the battle and we arrive at our goal with victory regardless of the odds agains us. There goes another healing.

The doctor works out with us and the doctor initiate reducing the meds to the bare minimum that we need. There goes another healing.

God reveals His truth into manufacturing a better medications; and everyday there is new possibilities; there goes another healing.

Then going off meds altogther doesn't become an issue. If God chose to have a time in our lifetime to get off the meds with doctor's approval? That is upto God; as to us; we should let it go.

I am on abilify and lithium. My doctor wanted me to get off Lithium slowly 300mg down/3wks. This is my first time to be on a single med. Fingers crossed, in prayer will see how it goes. Is there anyone that did get off mood stalizers?

May God bless us so that we can be a blessing to others as much us we got hurt with this illness.

God Bless You,

From my own experience it took 6 - 12mos before the right meds worked with my body. Everyone DNA is unique. God made us that way, but He has given us medications that can bring healing. The problem is that with so many diets, lifestyles, etc. meds don't work the same.

Risperdal was also given to me first. My stomach was always upset on this medication and I was always nauseous. Focus well my mind was racey on this medication, so I can relate to many of the arguments here already, but wait it out. Your doctor is taking blood test I hope to monitor the levels and with the feedback from your son you will know if its working.

Pray for direction and guidance. God will see you through.
