He is good at practical science, but pretty outspoken against Christianity.
He played a super hero on Almost Live.
Cool!(Even though I'm not sure what that is lol)
He is good at practical science, but pretty outspoken against Christianity.
IIRC he is mostly against creationism, geocentrism, flat earth beliefs, etc. Not Christianity in general.
That's basically the same thing.

I remember that! Speed Walker.
I preferred Billy Quan, though. Be like Billy.
YEC does not require platygeism or geo-centrism any more than helio-centrism, atomic theory et al. require the Big Bang theory. To say otherwise is just arrogance. That's basically the same thing.
You might appreciate this...

Not any Christianity I or millions of others practice(d). I never would have considered any of those things anything but laughable and never heard them preached.

I worked in STEM fields effectively (before retiring) while still embracing a modified YEC cosmology. Here-and-now science is our common ground.
This is a fascinating chain of messages. All without an atheist to muddy the waters (till now).
Strathos' pretty reasonable description of Bill Nye's focus.
Rose's apparently ambiguous response.
Hans the TE Christian assuming "same thing" referred to being pro-science and anti-Christian.
Whereas Sabertooth, the Creationist Christian assumed "same thing" was referring to ordinary Creationism and some slightly less popular ideas in opposition to mainstream science.
When I read it my interpretation was along with that Hans Blaster's interpretation. Maybe we are all kind of spoiling for a fight and assume people are disagreeing with us?
There are two main views of contemporary science,Whereas Sabertooth, the Creationist Christian assumed "same thing" was referring to ordinary Creationism and some slightly less popular ideas in opposition to mainstream science.
Wait, did you just put Flat Earth into the category of a "main view of contemporary science? There are two main views of contemporary science,
There are two main views of pre-history,
- A. a spheroid Earth orbiting the Sun; atomic theory; animals (and other kingdoms) being arranged by their similarities and, now, by DNA traits; an objective understanding of the human body & other creatures, etc.
- B. a flat, geo-centric "earth;" (I'm not sure how they deal with the other items...)
So many people try to make 1-A & 2-B into the only choices for cosmology, but I (and most Christians that I know in person) subscribe to a 2-A cosmology. It is intellectually dishonest to insist that that combination is rare or cannot exist, at all.
- The Big Bang and the "accidental" production of life (whether theistic or not).
- Young Earth Creationism; the sudden appearance of life.
