  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I switched up the weights to a 5x5 program. Did chest yesterday then one of my vendors took me and my co-worker "out".

Looking back, the instructions to bring a toothbrush and some deoderant should have been taken as a warning.

Got picked up at five yesterday, dropped off at 1 this afternoon.

I think my workout today will be to catch a matinee of Iron Man.

So today I decided to push myself a bit while jogging. Most of the time I do something that feels comfortable (just trying to burn calories and get the heart rate up), occasionally I push myself and really don't like it. So I set a small incline (1.5) and a 10 minute/mile pace and went... and kept going. I only stopped cause it is 1 am and I need to go to sleep (I did only go 35 minutes... but it was just the time that stopped me).

This is the first time I have been able to do this and felt good doing it. Always before I have really had to force myself to go even at a 11 minute/mile pace. I thought I would never again get to the point where it felt good to run. I know it didn't seem that way last year when I first forced myself to do 3 miles in 30 minutes. I thought I would never get back to when I was younger and exercise felt good.

Did you know that the bitter compounds that come from hops derived from beer seem to activate PPARs in animal studies? But you have to get them in the form of only one drink a day. People who drink 21 eight ounce beers, or 21 glasses of wine, or 21 shots of whiskey a week have a clear correlation predisposing them to belly fat, independent of all other risks.

PPARs once activated, they decrease glucose and insulin levels, as well as cholesterol and inflammation. (PPAR stands for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors) or Perfectly Powerful Abdominal Regulators .

05/15: 20 minutes treadmill
05/16: 60 minutes swimming

Might do a second workout for today in a little bit.

OK. Here I am. I need to lose mondo amounts of weight. Been trying my whole life, basically. Still trying. Now you all get to hear about me trying. Lucky you.

I used to have a treadmill, which was awesome, and really kept me exercising and feeling good. But I had to sell it because I needed $$...*sigh*...so now I don't exercise like I want to. I can't take daily walks because the weather here is so unpredictable (rains a lot, sweltering summers, etc). I used to walk twice a day on my breaks at work (added up to at least 30 min a day) but they changed my schedule so now I can't do that anymore. I LOVE to walk...that's my favorite form of exercise...maybe I'll see if I can find a cheap, used treadmill in the paper.

Hey Alley, you might consider a Gazelle....I got mine which is the basic model for right around $100.00. It's easy on knees and backs, and very versatile, there are at least 5 different moves I alternate each time I use it. I think that Target and sometimes Walmart sell them, you can also get one off of Amazon.

Alright I am going to start posting what I eat again because that seemed to help me before (even though I hate doing it). I stopped posting what I was eating and I stopped losing weight

Today was not a very healthy day: poptarts for breakfast, lean cuisine for lunch, and eggs and toast for supper. I went over my points a little bit because of the eggs.

Soon I will be burning that off on the treadmill or the elliptical.

Maybe tomorrow will be better. I won't be home for most of the day so that should help (unless my friend and I go out to eat in our spare time between class and being "guinea pigs" for an experiment). Unfortunately that's probably exactly what will happen but depending on where we wind up going, I can possibly look up the nutrition information online and make sure not to go over my points during the rest of the day.

Just did another 30 minutes of aerobics. I will try to do 60 minutes each day on the weekends, and 30 each weekday. No promises, though lol.

Molly, thanks for the Gazelle idea! I'll look into that.

Halfway through Day 2 of my latest attempt lol.

Had a soft pretzel for breakfast, and had 3 mini peppermint patties a while ago. Got a roast beef kaiser for lunch. I'm going to a dinner with my theater peeps tonight, so...hopefully I won't splurge too badly!! I'll do my 30 minute workout tonight. If I don't, y'all have permission to lambast me.
