  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Native Americans seem to have brought the story with them from Asia. It was only reinforced by the megafaunal species that I mentioned before. The land sloth, for example, stood 10 feet tall and was in N. America when humans were present.


We see a lot of ourselves in apes. I think this is why these stories are so fascinating. Carl Linnaeus said that he saw a kindred spirit in the eyes of chimps, so much so that he wanted to put chimps in the same genus as humans. It's not that much of a stretch to imagine that there exists an ape who is even more human like roaming around.

I haven't found anything about those in a quick google search, so a link would be very welcome (I've been interested in Bigfoot and Cryptozoology ever since I started reading at 6, although I never was a "believer").

I think if such things were occuring, it would be blatantly obvious that it was a double track of annother animal.


I agree, but stranger things have happened before so I dont totally rule it out as impossible

Don't be so quick to trust the experts. Even experts when equipped with a bias have an uncanny ability to delude themselves. There have been instances of these expert witnesses claiming ridges and other evidences that "could only have been made by a real creature", where it was later discovered those tracks were faked, and often rather poor and amateurish fakes.

The american Bigfoot legend seems to have begun due to the hoax of Ray L. Wallace. As soon as his tracks had gained popularity, tracks started appearing in other areas as well, and even increasing in complexity with time, not unlike the crop circle phenonema.

The stories doing the rounds about Bigfoot are a little like the Alien from outer space brigade,
the only people who benefit from keeping the stories going are the people who write about them and
the people on the lecture circuit who go around the country telling people they exist and giving
'evidence' and showing 'proof'.

It gives people something to talk about and it does no harm so what the hell,
now if we were talking about religion, that's a totally different thing altogether, religions can be
downright dangerous, look at the number of murderers who when they were caught said they were
told to do it by their God, religion can block out reason and understanding and make a person say
and do things they would not do if they were thinking straight.

That may be true but I also think they help conserve the mythology, I'd love to know the truth but maybe that truth is boring.

How would it be obvious? Have you seen the pictures of double tracks on there? I - and I assume a lot of people - wouldn't be able to recognise it.

It definitely sounds like a very reasonable explanation for at least a number of "Bigfoot tracks".


But do you have a link for those tracks you mentioned? I'm curious about them
