Last Year Easter Sunday was on April 9th.Should every other occasion that relates to March 31 be silenced because Easter happened to fall on March 31 this year?
Romans 14:5Romans, 1:21
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
...31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Those of you who wear your promotion of sin as a badge of courage, tolerance and moral superiority, you are worthy of death.
For those of you who may deem it improper to criticize 'your' president. Tough.
Mark, 6:17
For Herod had sent men to take John and put him into prison. He did this because of his wife, Herodias. She had been the wife of his brother Philip. 18 John the Baptist had said to Herod, “It is wrong for you to have your brother’s wife.”
Revelations 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
If you think encouraging gender confusion in children is appropriate,
Matt,18:6
“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!
Jude 1:5
Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
… 17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
Romans, 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
It must not have been very politically useful before this year. You know, the more interesting thing is that I never heard of this day before this year, even though this is the 4th time it was proclaimed by President Biden.
I’d definitely have to look again. If Trump said the sky was blue, the knee jerk Trump haters would say "he lies."
That is irrelevant.
That’s no surprise having perused the OBOB forums myself. My point is Trump is about the last person I’d ever rely upon to define what is or isn’t right with God. I don’t think I need to go into the well known details of his very public personal life. The fact remains that Trump is Presbyterian.
From what I have read on the Catholic threads on the forum, the Catholics have much the same reaction.
It’s blasphemy!Trump proclaimed Easter on April Fools Day in 2018.
Anything less is clearly persecution!Should every other occasion that relates to March 31 be silenced because Easter happened to fall on March 31 this year?
It is a tiresome fact that the "influencers" bang the "Trump Bad" drum" It is worn out. There are things I don't like about Trump. There are things I really don't like about Biden. That’s no surprise having perused the OBOB forums myself. I think social conditioning is a better explanation of you two lining up with similar reactions than any actual theological basis, but I’m no sociologist or psychologist. It is a tiresome fact that the "influencers" bang the "Trump Bad" drum" It is worn out. Neither of which is the subject of this OP
My point is that this the proclamation did induce a gut reaction of "blasphemy" in myself that was echoed in "someone else." That "someone" is of the Presbyterian persuasion.
I would state that the Xer influencers were shrieking about "someone" selling Bibles as "blasphemous." It did not awaken an echo in my being.
However, merely the statement that Biden had issued that proclamation induced a uncharacteristic response of "blasphemy" from myself that was echoed by a "public figure" immediately thereafter.
Both being of the Protestant persuasion, I assume it is something basic to Protestants.
As I said, I am not certain how I was certain that was the correct word. That echo by "someone" confirmed or rather affirmed there was a theological concept somewhere in the mix.
Blasphemy is the correct term, whomever so expressed it.
Well, during an election year, and to prevent an authoritarian dictatorship under Trump (the same man who incited a riot on January 6th, 2021, advertised a Bible filled with secular documents such as patriotic songs and the Constitution, and a guy who grifts from his supporters) from entering office, the trans stuff has to be on the back burner, potentially forever. We should be focusing on real issues such as poverty, and not this superficial stuff that applies to <1% of the population.I think social conditioning is a better explanation of you two lining up with similar reactions than any actual theological basis, but I’m no sociologist or psychologist.
I think at least on some level, blasphemy requires the intent to offend or disregard or disrespect God and in this case, we have an established tradition of this president making this proclamation on this specific date every year since his inauguration but we only have one single instance of this lining up with Easter Sunday.
Should the president have simply skipped his annual tradition of recognizing trans visibility day on March 31 just to avoid potentially offending some Christians who likely weren’t big fans of him already?
I guess it's one of the perks of religion that one can be absolutely certain about something that cannot be proven or disproven. It is a tiresome fact that the "influencers" bang the "Trump Bad" drum" It is worn out. There are things I don't like about Trump. There are things I really don't like about Biden.

You know that the republicans will just find another issue when they win on the trans front.Well, during an election year, and to prevent an authoritarian dictatorship under Trump (the same man who incited a riot on January 6th, 2021, advertised a Bible filled with secular documents such as patriotic songs and the Constitution, and a guy who grifts from his supporters) from entering office, the trans stuff has to be on the back burner, potentially forever. Yep, which is the sad part. We need a balance on these issues, or get rid of the two party system entirely. Cos, what if the Republicans want to start segregation again (such as what Dictator Trump's followers say)? That would be awful. Different races have existed since the dawn of humanity. But, the transgender issue did not arise until the 20th century. So, some issues have been part of society (such as racism or poverty) which have to be solved. Other issues are made up, such as the trans debate, as there were no documented trans people before the 20th century. You know that the republicans will just find another issue when they win on the trans front.
yeah 10000 days of transgenderism and you're an expert nowSomething as ubiquitous as transgenderism doesn't need a visibility day.
by that logic Trump invented the bibileYou know, the more interesting thing is that I never heard of this day before this year, even though this is the 4th time it was proclaimed by President Biden.
There are plenty of documented trans people before the 20th century. In fact, just a century or two ago, people like that were far more accepted.Yep, which is the sad part. I’m no Biden supporter, not by a long shot. I think they guy is a complete idiot but in this particular case I don’t see how this can be attributed to his doing. The Obama time-machine?
After re reading his post, I stand by what I said. Perhaps he meant something different, but it didnt read that way.No, it was about comparing lesbian and gay marriages. Heterosexual marriages didn't factor into the post.
That's the sentence you left out in your quote.
