  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The consumer price index edged up 0.1% last month after being unchanged in July. Though consumers got some relief from a 10.6% decline in gasoline prices, they had to dig deeper to pay for food, rent, healthcare, electricity and natural gas.
Food prices rose 0.8%, with the cost of food consumed at home increasing 0.7%. Food prices surged 11.4% over the last year, the largest 12-month increase since May 1979.

Just cut out the avocado toast and Starbucks.
The thing is that the "Inflation Reduction Act" is actually going to INCREASE inflation. The energy tax is going to be passed on to the consumer who is already paying higher rent and utility bills. Sanctuary cities like New York and Chicago do not want to pick up the cost of immigration, in Illinois they took the immigrants from Chicago and moved them to a Republican suburb, where the mayor is trying to help and find the immigrants jobs. But we can't hold up as a nation paying for every crazy billion dollar program the Democrats pass into law. The Chinese control 80% of the supply chain for EV batteries, and we are going to be at their mercy just like Europe is with Putin. I hope the American people wake up before the next election.

Not to mention eggs, which used to cost 99 cents here, and are now 3.49.

The least he could do is pretend to care about America rather than celebrate as prices climb and the DOW drops 1296 points while joe biden celebrates with his friends.
"biden celebrates while America burns" should become a historic quote for future generations to remember.

Buy less of those things then.

Sounds like advice from biden while he celebrates. "Just buy less (for the same amount of money)."
Meanwhile, biden and his friends don't have to buy less of anything. Not less trips on private jets, not less to build a wall around his Delaware home, not less to buy new laptops for his son, and certainly not less to be on vacation half the time.

Obviously the policies being implemented are not having a positive effect for the lower and middle classes ... getting worse all the time .... they don't care .... they won't change.

Sad ... because it don't have to be this way ... will see what the future holds ... it's uncertain.

Rice and beans prices are also up. Let them eat cake?
Let them take personal responsibility for their own finances, oh, wait, a Democrat is in office, time for government action not belt tightening.

That has been the stock response to any concern about personal finances, just buy less and you will have money for what you need. Guess that’s only the case when Republicans are in office.

They were awake in the last election... maybe we'd be better off if they slept through the next one.

I wonder where the people live that are experiencing these astronomical unheard of prices, the prices where I live have risen but nowhere near what others are posting. I would say where you can get affordable groceries but I don't want to increase the number of unhinged and armed Christian Nationalists threatening our peaceful neighborhood.
