  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

True to her faith, and to the preachers who lead her in prayer every week, she has adopted the morality of her faith. She is very strong on social justice, but "morally relative" on abortion.

I don't believe that is the case.

What Hillary is following when it comes to abortion is worldliness.

How, according to the above Methodist Church precepts could one logically rationalize the most horrific form of child abuse known to man?

This mindset cannot be justified, unless of course its done by rationalizing somehow that to kill ones own baby is not evil, its somehow a kind act and or approved by God.

HELLOOOO!!!! A little basic American history and some fundamental math: Hawaii statehood comes in 1959. Barak Obama is born in 1961. Hawaii has been a state for two years by 1961. There is nothing to review.

There is question about whether or not people born on military bases on foreign soil can truly be considered natural born citizens...well, there's a question insofar as there has not been legal clarification stating that such people can become president. At least that's my basic (admittedly likley flawed) understanding of it.

Logic is irrelevant to truth--check the facts. There are lots of watchdog sites out there which analyze the truth of claims made by each candidate. Again, I think that the status of it all has more to do with McCain getting ads out earlier, and is not indicative of any particular moral fortitude of the Obama campaign.

Try www.factcheck.org and www.politiact.org for starters.

SO he isnt actually an American born.
So shouldnt that automatically disqualify him?

The conspiracy theory is and I this is the only thing that may be fabricated, we'll just have to see, is that he was born in Africa and flown to Hawaii a week after and his birth is certificate is a forgery. The conspiracy theory folks say that when he was adopted in Indoasia he was made their citizen and when he came back he never applied for citizenship properly.

The conspiracy theory folks say the Republicans have all the documentation and will drop it when they feel is the right time. It's said Hills gave them all the info.

It's a stretch yeah, but it would PO Schwarzenegger who is ineligible to run becuase he is not American born.

But what really brothers me about him is how he says his grandmother was so racist but yet she took him in and raised him and made him what he is and in the Fox documentary I didn't see this poor pitiful lifestyle he keeps harping on. I see a black boy who lived a moderately privileged life.

I find it despicable and disgraceful that he would call his grandmother a racist, throw her under the bus in speeches designed to cover his butt after all this woman sacrificed for him, and the woman is still alive. It's pathetic. He has no honor or integrity.

But now I suppose, folks will come in here and say that's not factual either.

Ah no, the Clintons deserve all they're getting. Carma is a BI you know.

But I am disappointed in Hills, she's not starting any you know what. I'm hopeful Bill will start some some with his speech. That's the only reason I'll be watching. He look drunk when he was talking yesterday, but it's poetic justice, I want to feel bad for them but I just can't.

Anyway, all Hills is looking for is Bams to pay down her debt- that is the deal she's making in exchange for her supposed support, to have her bills paid.

But I think PUMA has every right to be PO'd but at Hills, not at the party. She should have went Independent and ran against the two. That would have made things really interesting.

Yeah--see they let anybody who wants to, walk onto the Senate floor. There are no background checks of any kind. Senators can actually use fake IDs to prove their ages as a service to their local college fraternities.

My grandparents were rascist, but it's better to keep things like that hidden under the rug where they belong. We don't want politicians who are too transparent with thier lives- we might actually kind of trust them then...

There's no room in this thread for the correct spelling of the word "rascist".

That would presuppose the above statement from the Methodist Church is morally correct which it isn't as its nothing more than a value judgement on life and that Hillary follows that anyway which she doesn't.

It would be a waste of time to dig up here true feminist approach to abortion on which she skirted the issue of the whole time of her campaign because she is irrelevant to the presidential race. She fully supports planned parenthood who encourage abortion on demand. What more needs to be said? If she were truly for the child she would have spoken to the needs of them and the marginalized parents faced with a crisis but I know of no instance when she did. Instead she did the PC thing by running from the question. She avoided the subject at every turn and condones the fruit of fornication as murder of the innocent, or even worse, the possibly handicapped under the guise of a selfist false freedom to choose to murder so as to bail out ones own hide from a responsibility they put themselves into and so does Barrack. Nothing good can or has come of it and any Christian who is swooned otherwise on this issue is decieved.

Interesting thing...

When Biden told his little story last night at the dem convention... "Imagining the conversations around the dinner tables in America today... how will we pay our bills, how will we send our kids to college, how will we find the money etc etc,... this is the America Bush has left us with..."

Did anyone else notice that less than a minute later he went on to say how Obama chose a life of public service back in 1995 because he saw first hand the suffering of the people with job losses, low incomes, plant closures, high taxes etc. ?

Wait a minute, wasn't Clinton the President at that time? LOL. Meanwhile all the crowd(including the clintons) was nodding their heads in approval and applauding. Curious, expecially when you consider the average unemployment rate when Clinton was Pres was higher than it has ever reached with Bush as Pres. Very curious to say the least.

"[FONT=arial, helvetica, sans serif]During the administration of William Jefferson Clinton, the U.S. enjoyed more peace and economic well being than at any time in its history. He was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term. He could point to the lowest unemployment rate in modern times, the lowest inflation in 30 years, the highest home ownership in the country's history, dropping crime rates in many places, and reduced welfare rolls. He proposed the first balanced budget in decades and achieved a budget surplus"

It's pretty simple. *Some* people were hurting economically during the Clinton years. Now *most* people are hurting economically during the Bush years. See how that works? The Clinton years weren't perfect, he signed NAFTA and that was a huge blow to a lot of working class folks (While Wall Street and the rest of the economy were doing tremendously well), but the Bush years have made those times look like the good old days. I've always felt that the best thing that ever happened to the Clinton legacy was George W. Bush. When you're followed by the guy even some conservatives I know call "the worst President in history", it's hard not to look good by comparison.

Now, John McCain wants to consider George W. Bush's legacy. How are you doing compared to eight years ago? How are your friends doing? Do you really want four more years of Bush/McCain?
