Hello!,

I am a student in a community college (entering the third semester) . The reason I am typing is because I wanted to hear verses, opinions, etc about this. The college does these bus trips to various cities around fall or spring semesters. This fall, they're going to Salem MA. Now when I heard this, I was hesitant enough to say no to myself because despite the fact that this site was home to the witch trials, there could be shops and attractions that have this "evil practice" as its main focus" So I 'd appreciate fellow brother and sister opinion and biblical guidance. Did I do the right thing? What would Jesus do?

It boils down to knowing if it is appointed for you to go.
He can lead you into the middle of evil practices for a reason that He alone knows and you will be perfectly safe - maybe someone there needs a word of life.
You simply must know that it is His will.

I'd taken my son there like 8 years ago. He was like 9 years old. Personally, I wouldn't go back. You will run into a lot of people who believe they are witches and it's just a really weird place.

We did go into a museum that told the "history" of Salem; but it was done in a rather "Halloween" fashion and wasn't something I was particularly impressed with. There was one story told in the presentation though where one fellow (he was the only one who would not confess to being a witch). He was a Christian and said he would not confess to something he did not do and if he died; he died. He was going to trust in God. (And they crushed him to death.) So that I found interesting; even in the midst of all this darkness and witchcraft was one man's testimony.

If you're curious about it; then go. If it's not that important then stay home. You will run into a lot of darkness and witchcraft. I personally found the place creepy and oppressive and I'm not overly sensitive to that kind of thing.

It is good that you are concerned enough to ask the question. A good principle is to see whether or not an activity is going to help or hinder your Christian life. Paul said to the Corinthians, 1 Chapter 10:23 "All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify."

That is a good guide to follow. Also, we have a conscience where God will speak to us. Take note. If it tells you some proposed activity is wrong, don't do it.

Weren't the majority of Witches in Salem not Witches at all but only some poor souls who were tortured for no reason whatsoever and murdered by a bunch of so-called Christians, or better put, psycho's on a Witch Hunt?
