• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Bible verses in recovery

Hi everyone,

I thought it'd be a good idea to share bible verses to encourage each other through recovery. Eating disorders are such a hard, long battle and it's easy to feel hopeless and give up. I've hit my "semi-bottom" w/ bulimia the past few months and even tho I'm worn out, I'm going to try again. This time, I'm starting with Jesus & the bible. So if you have a fave bible verse(s) or something that spoke to you, please share :yum:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light -- Matt 11:28-30

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up -- Galations 6:9

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery -- Gal 5:1

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners -- Mark 2:17

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU FOR THOSE VERSES!!!
They had me in tears in no time. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is truth.

Psalm sixty two
My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Psalm fifty one
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Philippians 3:12 - 14
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

No problem jwilging01, I'm glad it's helped you too.

Here's another one I LOVE:
Psalm thirty seven verse three to seven:

Trust in Yahweh and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Delight yourself in Yahweh
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to Yahweh;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Be still before Yahweh and wait patiently for him.

LOVE THAT VERSE!!!
