  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you folks attend a weekly Bible study?

Do you find it beneficial?

How is it run? Hymns, prayer, study hymns?
It's wonderful as we study God's Word and lift up God in praise and adoration.
It is open forum and everyone gets to ask many questions :]
Very beneficial to my growth. Still growing today :]

I don't go anyplace as I am a care taker on call 24/7/365.

However Thee Father has always provided me with what He wants me to develop and grow in.

So I get my study via tv and books.
Now the tv is through DVD and mp4's
This way I can easily get 8 to 14 hours a day of study in.
He is so good to us.
Blessings to you

No, but I would like to, it's just not even a possibility in my current situation, but hopefully the situation will change, God willing and the creek don't rise.

I wouldn't mind starting one, but definitely need more free time to organize and prepare and all of that, which may be more possible soon, as my son starts school. Getting connected with like minded believers though in the area I live might present a challenge.

No but I plan on starting one as soon as I can. It will be run by me as the teacher and questions are certainly welcome as long as they are legitimate questions. I will not allow questions in order to tell me the answers. I don't care for opinions either. I don't care what everybody thinks a passage is saying to them I care what the actual meaning of the passage is. It will start with prayer for guidance and the Spirit to open our hearts and minds and we may sing a hymn at the end.

As soon as I can find some interest I will do it.

Do you think Paul asked people what they thought a passage meant to them when he taught? He was a man called and equipped by the Spirit to open up the Scriptures to those he taught. That seems to be the biblical model.

Paul was endued by the Spirit as an Apostle, hence his words were such that they addressed the understanding of those to whom he was addressing. Therein lies the primary focus of hermeneutics. What did the original superintended writer of Scripture intend when he wrote what he wrote.

We, on the other hand, are but unprofitable servants, still inflicted with the noetic effects of sin. Hence, much effort, prayer, and study is required to determine the original writer's intentions. We are not Apostles.

No, we are not but men called and equipped by the Spirit and have the mind of Christ. The Spirit opens up the Scriptures to us that we may teach others as the Apostle instructed Timothy. We must teach with the authority given us with assurance and with truth.

True enough. By the by, the "us" in your claim is a wee bit strained, as I do not see all persons being gifted to teach. Further, Paul was instructing Timothy, one so called, authorized, and sent.

But the point actually being discussed by me at least, was that it would be quite ineffective to presume that what one has to teach in a Bible Study situation is being taught infallibly. Hence the distinction between the superintended writers of Scripture and ourselves. Only those men could lay claim to a "My Way or the Highway" type of attitude that I alluded to earlier above.

Nor do I see all persons gifted to teach. Only those who are recognized by the church as having been called and gifted else there would be no one to teach.
At the same time, while in no way infallible, they should should be seen as having authority to teach.

The measure of a false prophet isn't the manner of his life or his speaking ability but what he teaches. I am honestly willing to stand before the Judge of all and give an answer for what I teach. Where I am in error I am sure He will correct and if I am wrong I trust to His faithfulness to prove me false.

I seek not to impart doctrine but knowledge of Christ Jesus the Lord in all His glory by the Scriptures. Since that is the case man's opinion means nothing to me. Those who are the called will hear.

Actually I welcome all questions especially if they are seeking actual answers. Only those questions asked as a platform to inform me, who has been preaching and teaching for more than twenty five years as one sent of God not by men, what I should believe. I have never once sought a place to preach and never will. Yet I have been asked to preach from Alaska to Alabama, from New Jersey to Tennesee, from Texas to California and other states as well. I have preached to many and to few. My message is always the same: the sovereign grace of God in Christ Jesus in all the Scriptures. I simply wait on the Lord to open the door. When He does He will put His stamp of approval on it.

You probably meant "teacher" here versus "prophet". The measure of any prophet is that what he prophesies actually takes place. ;)

A buddy of mine is attending a Bible study tonight at a local Baptist church. He asked me to attend with him and since I have nothing going on I thought I would attend.

I hope we are studying something from Osteen or T. D. Jakes!
