• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Heyalo....

I'm at the point in my life, where I have to consider what I'm going to be doing in my future, and I've been thinking about bible college.

So I was wondering if some people that go to bible college, could post back to me, with the answers for my questions please?

Here are my questions...

 • What sort of things do you do at bible college?
 • At the end of bible college...do you get a degree or something?
 • What sort of jobs are available, from studying at bible college
That's it for now I think

Please write back!

God bless xXx

 • What sort of things do you do at bible college?
Not sure exactly what you mean... go to class, study, eat meals...
 • At the end of bible college...do you get a degree or something?
Depends upon the Bible college. Some are accredited and you will receive an Associates Degree (generally 2 years of work) or a Bachelor's degree (4 years) There are many, however, that offer only a certificate. Personally, I would avoid any that do not have Regional Accreditation or Accreditation by the American Association of Bible Colleges
 • What sort of jobs are available, from studying at bible college
Depends upon what your degree is in. Most Bible colleges offer degrees in Bible (required for all students) and a ministry related area for a double major or a minor. If you want to teach school, program computers or manage a business, you may find it very hard to get a start with a degree from a Bible college.

There are, however, a large number of Christian liberal arts colleges that offer a wide array of majors. www.naccap.org/ is a good site to go to to find a large number of accredited Bible colleges and Christian liberal arts colleges (Liberal arts has nothing to do with being conservative or liberal, BTW)

Many Bible colleges also offer co-op programs with other public schools. The jobs available depend on what your degree is in. If you get a teaching degree at a Bible college, you can teach. Business degree.. go into business. It's a college, so like any other college, you take classes and pursue a degree. The atmosphere is the biggest difference, though, from other schools. Very uplifting to be with other believers and to have Christian perspectives put into all classes.

Hi TonicBex,

i am currently studying at a Bible College in the UK, so if you've got any more questions feel free to ask me. I'll do my best to answer your initial ones though:

What sort of things do you do at bible college?
Not exactly sure what you're asking here, but i spend time in lectures - studying about different doctrines/practical ministry/church history/other religions. We also have daily worship together, as well as groups which meet together every few weeks to share how things are going with everyone or do a bit of bible study. Most of the other time is spent either doing essays or assignments, or reading for those assignments, but we also play sport every day/hang out with friends at college/eat together/have girly nights/some of us even go down the pub occassionally (although the majority of people dont - personal decision). basically what i'm trying to say is that although a lot of time is spent studying God's word and being in lectures, the students do have a life and do normal things like other people!

At the end of bible college...do you get a degree or something?

This depends on which Bible College you go to. The majority of Bible Colleges in the UK offer 3 year degree courses which are accredited by other universities. For example, the London School of Theology is accredited by Brunel University - so at the end of your 3 years you graduate with a degree in Theology from Brunel Uni. Most colleges of different courses, and different levels - you can stay one year at college and get a Certificate of Education, or 2 years which gets you a Diploma, or 3 years which get's you the degree.

What sort of jobs are available, from studying at bible college

All sorts. You could go into a secular job, unrelated to any christian work - you'll have the same chances as anyone else who's studied Theology or another degree at a UK university. Or you can go into Christian work - which is mostly advertised in Christian Newspapers/Magazines or in the college itself - most of these jobs require some sort of training/degree from a Bible College. So you coudl join a Missionary Agency and go abroad, or work for somewhere like London City Mission, or work for a church, or for a Christian organisation doing administrative work - the list is pretty big!

Hope this has been of some help. If you'd like to know mroe then let me know. :)

My husband got a degree from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. You can get "real" 4 year degrees there in things other than becoming a pastor, but it depends on what you want to major in. For example, if you want to major in elementary education they have that but they don't have a physics major. Pretty much its just like going to any other college except they make you go to chapel everyday and all majors have to take some fundamental Christian courses on top of other generals. http://www.northcentral.edu/
