  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

sup guys...im 17 and I really feel like God is leading me to go to bible college. I have been praying about this a lot and I really want to do this. I also have a HUGE passion for youth ministry. God has put a lot of things in my life, great youth pastors, and oppurtunities to lead several middle school groups, so I think God is preparing me for a life in ministry. Here is the question though:

Are there very many bible colleges that are into modern worship (Jeremy Camp style worship, not hymns.) I grew up singing out a hymnals but I currently attend a church that is pretty modern, we sing songs like God of Wonders. I was just wondering what you guys think about htis. Also, if any of you know a good christian college that has degress in youth ministry feel free to post. I am very open to suggestions.

Please re-think a major in youth ministry.

Have a double major, or another major and youth ministry as a minor, but please do not have youth ministry be your ony major. This is not my opinion alone. It is shared by a lot of youth ministry professionals! YM is not a difficult program, so it's not that hard to combine it with another major and you will actually be much beter prepared to be a leader.

I am a student at Liberty University (www.liberty.edu) which is a Christian liberal arts university. The school offers a wide variety of majors including biblical studies and youth ministries. We have convocation, what some call chapel, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday where we have praise and worship (contemporary) followed by a speaker ranging from Christian leaders such as Rick Warren to James McDonald, political figures such as Carl Rove to even commentators such as Sean Hannity, and even business men and women such as Mr. Cathy the CEO of Chic-fil-a. So the university might be what you are looking for in a college.

As a side not I whole heartedly agree with Bliz. Think about double majoring in something like business or communications or any other vocational major if you plan on majoring in Youth ministries. Or there is always the option to major in a vocational major and minor in youth ministries. I believe this would be a wise choice.

God Bless

alright...any suggestions on majors that would go well with youth ministry and benefit me in the long run? I have been thinking about communications for quite awhile now, Ive even won a film festival on a documentary I made on the Holocaust...not sure where God is leading me on this, so what majors go good with YM? Ill keep praying about it. Thanx.
