I think it is entirely possible that God, in His infinite wisdom, was able to place some kind of code in the sequence of letters in the original texts of the scripture. I find it equally possible and somewhat more probable that these guys with superpowerful computers and more time and (grant) money than they know what to do with could find such a code whether it exists or not. Admittedly I haven't read the books you mention, but it sounds a little fishy to me.

they are interesting, also the History Channel did a documentary on them. I don't know how I feel about them 100%, but I wouldn't be suprised if they are real. God is complex, and therefore creates complexities. Jen

I don't really agree with it either. The guy who wrote the books is not a Christian (if it is the same books I am thinking of), so it makes you wonder about his motives? (Wait,...do I hear a cash register?). I do agree with vinsight4u that we really should spend more time studying God's word. I have been just as guilty as the next person of trying to get information via "shortcuts" through books, etc., but have decided it really is in our best interest to just read God's word. That being said, there are many helpful books. They just cannot be our source above the Bible. IMO!

Do any of you believe in the Bible Code? That God placed a secret code into the Bible that reveals certain things by computer? I read the 2 books, and thought it very interesting. What are your thoughts? Jen
I believe the bible code is real. The first man to do this was a Jewish man by the name of Yacov Rambsel. He has Messianic Ministries in Texas. He did it first without a computer, and thought that it was easier to do it that way. He is pretty old. Grant Jeffrey did it later also.

Such as Habakkuk wrote a time is coming when -work a work -and so we also find this in the New Testament, showing Habakkuk's prophecy is yet to come about this Chaldean ruler

Hab 2:3 -
For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.

I still don't understand why people don't see Habakkuk as a future prophecy , to me it's obvious.

Yes, I wish I could look into it personally though, if only I could read Hebrew, which would be great, but hard and time consuming. Jen

While it is possible, I think the Bible Code is reading too much into what the Bible really is: a collection of writings from the prophets, Apostles, and disciples of Christ. They are inspired by the Holy Spirit, but I don't think they're THAT inspired.

Besides, the Bible Code is about as useful as Nostradamus: no one sees the disasters until they've already happened. And then you say, "It was in there all along!" Riiiiiight.......

I would love to discuss this with you more Vin but i don't have time at the moment , and plus i would need to re-read that book as i haven't read it in over a year or more , and i'm flat out trying to finish a book i'm reading at the moment.

Maybe we could start a thread on it one day ..

No.

That God placed a secret code into the Bible that reveals certain things by computer?
No

What are your thoughts?
I think it is just another gimmick to sell more books. I stack that one up next to the daVinci code.

Actually Ya'akov Ramsel was not the first to discover nor utilize the Bible Code. He was, however, the first to search for and find the Name of Yeshua (Jesus) encoded within the Hebrew Scripture. His most notable discovery was finding not only the Name of Yeshua in Isaiah 53, but also the names of everyone involved in His crucifixion, the disciples, The High Priest's name Caiphas, His mother's name, etc etc. And in the finding of the Name Yeshua, Ramsel found it to say "Yeshua Sh'mi" which means, "Yeshua is My Name".

Someone had pointed out that such encoding was found in Moby Dick. This isn't completely true. The problem is, that you can find some sort of encoding in virtually any written work. However, what you will more than likely find is something that will not have any thing to do with the context of the work you find it in. With the Bible codes, You find not only the names of Biblical characters, but you find them within the context of the text about them. Yeshua, in particular, is found in every single prophecy concerning Him. In prophecies of things that have come to pass already, whether plain or alluded to in context, you find the information concerning them encoded, such as the Uni-bomber, the Assassination of the Israeli Prime Minister, etc etc.

In Proverb 30:4

Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His Name, and what is His Son's Name?
Surely you know!

In the Hebrew, where it says: "What is His Son's Name?" in the Hebrew word "Shem" (Shin-Mem Sophith), meaning "Name"; from the Shin count 570 letters backwards you come to Yod, thus you have forward, Yod-Shin. Continue forward 570 letters from the Shin and you come to Vav. 570 more and you come to Ayin. Yod-Shin-Vav-Ayin spells "Yeshua", the Name of the Messiah in Hebrew.

Okay, 570 is a little bit much, how about doing the same thing from the same letter in the same word, counting 224 letters? Yes, it is "Yeshua". Is that still a bit much? Okay, how about doing it by 22 letters from the same letter in the same word? Yes, this, too, is "Yeshua".

From the same statement "WHat is His Son's Name?" you have three witnessing codes to the same letter, Shin, the same name, "Yeshua", and answering the same question: "What is His Son's Name? Surely you know!" it is "Yeshua".

It should be noted, however, that the codes are not meant to be a system of divination. But what these codes do is prove a systematic and complex design within the confines of the Word of the Living God. In so doing, they prove the mastery of an Author beyond our own comprehension and existence.

There are other forms of code in the Hebrew scriptures. There are Letter variation codes, where the letters alone have meaning, and they have a number which also has meaning. One such example is this:
