Better to offend or be politically correct?

John the Baptist was not politically correct. Should we tell the truth, even if it costs us our heads? Or, should we water down the truth and play it safe?

I made some sequential art about John the Baptist and express my opinion about this. At this time, it seems to me that the church is more concerned about feelings than truth. Please weigh in on this with you recommendations.

What was John wrong about? All the man did was preached repentance to prepare the way before God. He baptized people because it was an act of turning to repentance and back to God. John knew Jesus was coming but he also knew Jesus had a better baptism we could receive.. that's why he preached repentance on the land. And they chopped his head for the same reason they killed Jesus and the other prophets.. so wth you mean he was incorrect? Incorrect about what? I don't think John preached and lived long enough to talk about the man and say he was incorrect about something cause he really didn't do much of anything....

Anybody who kills someone for speaking a truth means they don't like the truth period. It means they couldn't stand what the person was saying.. so they had to kill him..but that's no reason to kill someone just cause someone gave you a feeling..the only time I think murder is acceptable is in defense other then that killing a person is wrong period especially because they said something they didn't like....we all get feelings..it's how we react to those feelings....

No, I am not saying he is incorrect. I said that he was NOT "politically correct". Meaning, he did not just say things people found culturally acceptable. Instead, he called it like it was. People were attracted to that, or at least some of them were.

It is almost always dangerous to speak the truth. I think one needs to weigh the benefits. Only the individual can make that decision; some people have more courage than others, most people are fairly easily intimidated. I do think that being politically correct, went from being a good idea to now often used as a weapon to silence decent.

Offhand, I'd say it depends on what "the truth" is.

If you were speaking of a comment of minor importance that would hurt the feelings of a friend, that might be a time for leaving something unsaid, regardless of how truthful it might be. But if you were challenged on your faith in Christ, that would obviously be different.

Watch an evangelist like Ray Comfort (I think that is his name). He’s offensive only because people don’t like the fact that their sin is being pointed out to them. But if people don’t know what sin is and aren’t convicted in some way, then what do they need a savior for?

Quartermaine, to point out a fellow believer's sin is... offensive. So, I guess I would do that to help them, to bring them into truth, so that they could be closer to God. Only I show it to them in the Bible. Because what I say really does not matter.

Because lying is a sin no matter what. Nowhere in the Bible are we encouraged to lie about anything. The word "liars" is found in the same sentences as murderers, thieves, adulterers, etc.

That's not always politically correct, but it's not always offensive either.

It is true. Not everyone was sent from God. I know we have teachers and ministers etc. But if God did not say it himself, how do you know what's true period. We should not be saying anything is true unless the spirit revealed it itself. We don't get the truth from other people we get it though the only source of truth and that's God's spirit...stop relying on these ministers and teachers most of them aren't preaching the truth...they will probably lead you far away from the Lord then your own disobidence will...

Yeah well free will just leaves us without an excuse in the end...the Lord gave us free will because it was a fair thing to do since it's our OWN life to live. I don't think the Lord would interfere with our own life and the choices we make...but what we choose is up to us..and will be our own fault because he tells us the right thing to do and the right way to go...

Free will has nothing to do with that. Only the Lord has the truth so if we speaking something it better be true and of God cause anything other then that would leave a man in error cause they be speaking it from thier own mouths...

Who was her husband? I didn't say it wasn't possible I said it should be coming from God or the spirit... because that's where the truth is only..from the Lord and the bible when the spirit reveals it truth to us when we read it...even the bible bible us this..about false prophets...
